Freakin sweet!

Finally got some free time inbetween moving house to put all the new bits together:

MSI K8 Neo
Athlon 64 3200 Newcastle
1GB Corsair Value Select (as rec'd in the "Choosing RAM" sticky)
Seagate 200GB SATA
Galaxy 6800
Tagan 480W PSU

Got past POST first time which I was chuffed with, XP install was impressively quick. More importantly, DOOM3 looks sweet The only issues I had were with the front audio panel and nvmixer but I can live without both. I'm not overclocking, certainly no need atm.

Mmmm, nice rig.
I have some of that Corsair Value Select. Running in DC along with some Kingston at 202Mhz 2.5-3-3-11. Cant seem to get the timings any lower at that speed for the corsair. Its not bad memory but for a nice system like yours I would have thought you would get something a little better.

Was thinking of buying some OCZ or similar but ended up going with So's recommendation in the thread I mentioned. I don't understand memory timings, FSB etc so overclocking is a way off for me All I know is the POST screen says 400Mhz with 2T atm? For now I've got double the memory I was expecting and performance wipes the floor with my other rig. It seems stable so far, yet to do a memtest. 3DMark would be interesting too I guess. Was also trying to keep a rein on my budget.

Btw, I got the PSU cos it's very quiet and gives 28A.

I have the K8n New platinum board and there are 2 jumpers that need to be moved to enable the front audio from what I read in the manual.

I don't use front audio so I left the jumpers on.

He must be in Europe where Tagan is a big name, don't see them much in the U.S. Further examination shows usage of the word "chuffed" which leads me to believe he is in U.K.

I too live in the UK ,Tagan are known but not that big when compared to Enermax/Antec,most UK buyers I know go for Enermax or Antec,and few for Thermaltake PSUs.
