Freaky TnT2 overclocking

I have an Asus v3800 TnT2. The core seems happy to about 175ish, and the ram will make up to 200MHz. The freaky thing is that at 167MHz memory and higher (166 is fine) the 2D display is so slightly corrupted. Text in Windows gets small speckles around each letter that come and go as the window is moved. I'm using the 3.68 reference drivers and an old version of TnTCLK for overclocking. Is this a memory timing issue? I haven't tried Asus' drivers yet, I was just wondering if anyone has seen anything like this before.

hmmm.. I got a CL2U that does a nifty 175/240 (EliteMT -5ns mem) without crashing, but when the memory is above 220, artifacts appear in 3D games. I suspect heat to blame. Try exchanging your card if possible, because corrupt 2D has got to be issues with something between the mem and core.. like the RAMDAC.

My CL-TNT2 U acn do a beastly 190/230, though I leave it at 180 for the core since the gain is pretty much nonexistant.
Of course this is with a sightly modified cooling solution
Heat has never been an issue with the RAM though, the RAM seems to stay very cool, as it has on all the vid cards Ive owned in the past.
TNTclk has given me by far the best OCing results, with the Coolbits util I got it to 210-220 without artifacts.

I guess this post did have a "duh" coming. I might not have been very specific. In the TNTCLK panel, there are settings for about 10 different memory timings and latency. I was wondering if these are standard across all boards / drivers. I tried tweaking the values a bit but couldn't get the "speckles" to go away. 3D games run fine, with no artifacts. I also tried the Asus drivers (perhaps they have different timings than the ref drivers) with no change.

Thanks for the replies. Anyway, this isn't my main video card but sometimes I get way too curious about stuff.
