I live in the mountain of Western NC. Tropical thing Fred is passing just west of here.
Very little wind, but rain.... 6 - 8+ inches since yesterday... and it's still raining. Over 7" at my house in the last 36 hours.
Two grandsons are firefighters... one working a shift at one department, the other who has all his swift water certs, etc. is on a swift water rescue task force responding wherever needed. Swift water teams from other counties responding.
Roads flooded, roads washed out, bridges washed out, roads covered with landslides, trees on houses, people trapped in their home. The number of trees down is insane, just because of the saturated soil, which of course takes out power for a lot of people.
