I am a bit confused as to how to get this deal. I tried three different employment profiles, and each time they say that I don't qualify ro any free magazines.

Is this just a scam to collect email addresses?

That one worked for me I don't know whats up.

This is also the first time the student/other route didn't work for me on that site

I tried the music/producer profile and was offered only a subscription to a different "Club" magazine. YMMV?

I already get it free from some other offer and when it expires I'll be paying for it. Out of the 12 free mags a month I get its the only one worth shelling any actual cash for.
