Since my above post, they've contacted me FOUR more times. I keep telling them I'm not ready to buy anything, I don't make buying decisions at work, but I've told my boss who does about their product. The guy STILL keeps calling me. I'm going to just uninstall the damn thing. It's a nice product, but they will not leave me alone, it's driving me nuts.

No one has called me about this. I think I might buy it, since I do appreciate the 1 year free I have. The only two things hold me back 1) the update servers seem to fail every week or 2, and it asks me if I want to try again. There isn't an option to just make it automatically retry without asking me. It should only ask me if it fails, say 2 days in a row. 2) It doesn't really scan spyware. I want to uninstall Adaware and just use one program for all my anti-malicious software. When Panda solves those two problems (the latter being more pressing), they won me as a customer.

where exactly did you go to fill out the information?

I used the link also and I dont have a user name or a password and would like to get updates.

Thanks.

You don't automatically get updates when you sign online? A little popup box should come up on the bottom right corner of your screen saying your definitions have been updated.

The instructions say that I should uninstall any antivirus programs that I have, but I want to keep Norton installed to see if there are any differences. Do you guys know if it matters if I leave it installed?

O Yes dude! If you have both installed, then I'm sure you'll start to have a lot of 'wacky' windows problems, assuming your PC will even boot up properly into windows. Basically, with both programs running, the two AV programs will conflict, and cause all sorts of problems.

To sum up: Don't Do IT!!
I see this answer/warning A LOT! Are any of you giving out this answer actually talking from personal experience?

Just wondering, because I have had NAV co-installed with AVG and a2 anti-viri, and then co-installed with AntiVir without one single problem. The "trick", which is not really any trick at all, is to simply make sure that only ONE program handles the 24/7 pro-active defense role.

I currently have both the AntiVir and AVG programs installed. I REGULARLY (as in "just today", for instance) scan with one, THEN the other, with zero problems whatsoever -- as in nada, zilch, bupkis, none.

So, ummmm, I call shens!

Btw, our own resident expert Schadenfroh seems to think AntiVir is the best of the freeware bunch, better than AVG or aVast. Two things: One, I'm not sure if he's talking about AVG 6 or AVG 7, and, Two, I think no one program grabs 'em all, which is why I carry and use two. And my personal experience almost continuously backs up that belief.

I also use panda's firewall as well as the antivirus software itself. However I can't figure out how to modify it so that it will allow my networked laptop to communicate with my pc and its internet connection. Currently the only way I can get the network to work properly is to temp turn off the panda firewall. I don't like to do this very often as it defeats the point of having it. Good thing I don't use the laptop much. There must be a way to configure the panda firewall to allow the laptop access to my pc (for file sharing and internet access).

FYI, this product shuts itself down if you access the computer over XP Pro's Remote desktop. Really bad to ahve both the AV and Antivirus disabled fr the duration of the remote session. Lets bugs "phone home" unditected.

It's not a scam, nor is the download infected with a virus. The site is down though.....should be back up shortly.

Okay let me point this out - When you scan another antivirus with an antivirus, you're most likely going to find "viruses". Because for antiviruses to work, their signature database contains real virus file data! Those DLLs you detected were probably heuristic engines for trojans and had embedded a common file string for unnamed trojan detection.

I think it's just a download site from Panda and I will need User ID and Serial Number to install, if not it's only a free trial. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I got a call a couple of weeks ago. I signed up back in September. I had it on my drive for a couple of months before I even installed it. I finally installed and a few days later I swaped out my 2700 memory for 3200. I start having crashes once a day to a couple times a day. First thing I did was uninstall panda. Later I ended up running memory scan and found that to be at fault. Switching slots fixed that but I just haven't reinstalled it yet. I guess I should do that.

Anyhow that phonecall was short. She asked how I liked the software. I said I don't really know and told her the story. She sounded half pi$$ed that I hadn't reinstalled it. Uh ok lady. If they call again I will tell them that I refuse to install it after the huff the last caller gave me.

I just rolled out the pay software on an exchange server, file server, and about 20 workstations all went well. switched from Norton cause its mucho cheaper. beware tech suport is in spain the first guy I tallked to I couldn't understain his engish at all. I dooes seem like good stuff and gets rid off add-ware, mall-ware too.
I read some reviews that tested about 6 differnt products and it has the lowest CPU utilzation of any which is a good thing.

Well my free year just ran out. Has anyone actually purchased a subscription?

I noticed that Outpost.com sells a new copy of the software with a rebate which turns out to be the same price as a 6-month subscription. Does anyone know if the boxed version comes with a year.

Since this one ran out, I'm going to buy an anti-virus now. I did appreciate the free year from Panda. So I think I am going to buy the boxed version if it comes with a year subscription.

F-prot has a freeware DOS version as well as a 32-bit version. Also Mcafee can be run from the command line without even purchasing the software--check-out Bart's PE and 911 CD.
