Free 10.00 GC for cashing in 40.00 in coins at Coinstar

Received this a couple weeks back in an email from Coinstar. They have done this promo every year for the last 5 years or so.

Cash 40.00 in coins at a Coinstar box and choose a GC from the six that are particpating in this promotion. Amazon, Loews, itunes, etc. Your receipt will have your promo code on it.

Amazon's promotion ends 12-22-10. the other five particpating companies ends on 12-31-10.

Five of the six will send you a hard copy GC card in the mail. if you choose Amazon, you enter the promocode on the website below and they say they will send you a promo code in 24 hours.

My code actually came to me yesterday in under a hour.

Now this code is different from the one that you get from the cashing of the coins. That one you enter on Amazon's website as a GC and it never expires.

This Amazon promotion code is different. It's used when you check out on a purchase at Amazon and add it to the box that asks for promotion codes. It has an expiration date of 1-31-10.

Free 10.00 for little work. As always, even without this promo, there is no charge for coin counting when you ask to be paid by a GC.

According to http://www.coinstar.com/us/html/amazon the promo code may be limited to "toys & games" - any idea if that's accurate?

Edit: From Googling around some more, it looks like the promotion started for Toys & Games only, but was later expanded to everything (almost everything - no downloadable content/ etc.) Also one code per Amazon account it looks like.

Yeah, the way they worded it seemed to be implying that it could only be used on toys and games only but that's not the case.

I already used in on Windows 7 purchase.

This is the email they sent when they sent the code:

no, cashing in coins for amazon is a 0% fee. I believe it's also only 8% fee to actually get cash in return.

Thanks for the tip! I was planning to take $50 to cash for an Amazon GC this week; I'll go ahead and pick a nice little bonus on my order with the extra $10.

You can't feed foreign currency either. It would be cool to have them accept it and convert that into USD automatically. But you can go to your bank, and get $40 worth of dollar coins. or $80, or $120 i'm sure.

i have a change jar, and each year seem to have just over $40 just in time for the holidays (this year i did have to raid my wife's purse for the last few bucks) and get the $50 amazon card. this year they emailed me the promo code within about 20min of me registering

friend of mine went to back and changed $40 into quarters to get in on the deal
