Usenet is great, it's interesting to see providers are offering cheaper unlimited download plans - I wonder if their retention and completion is really as good as they claim for these prices. I personally use Easynews for the convenience of their web interface and global search, but they only give 20GB at $10/mo, so if you want to download whole DVD's an unlimited service like this would certainly be better.

I've tried them all, and newshosting is quality as is giganews.

I've been using Usenet even before there was a WWW, back when it was just colleges and government. Used to have to edit the parts by hand using vi, then uudecoding them. Even then we thought it was great.

However, the last few years has seen the euro porn sites flood the erotica binaries with child porn, so I stopped. Don't want anyone finding child porn on my computer and being arrested, even though it really wasn't my fault.

So just warning you guys. Assuming you would be downloading the erotica groups en masse.

been using newshosting for a few years now, used usenetserver before that, but they had a few months of problems a few years back, and they weren't worth using at the time so switched. i still use forte agent as my news client, been using it since the very first version back in 95, doesn't have all the features of newsleecher but i'm so familar with forte agent now, i can't change.

You can, if you do things the hard way. Now all you have to do is download an NZB file, it's basically just a text file that you open with your news program and it tells it where to get all the files. This eliminates the need to download any headers. One of the best sites to get nzb's from is newzbin.com (it's a pay service, but is very cheap). A good free alternative is binsearch.info

I hit my highest connection ever with this service, I hit 2680k with 10 connections, so it must be your ISP.
