PNY's work just fine. Never had/heard any problems. These DiskOnKey thingies are all pretty much the same to me. I've been using an old Sony 64MB Micro Vault for over a year now and no problems.

I think the best "every day" deal that I know of is Costco. They have the 256MB USB 2.0 Sandisk mini-cruzer for $49.99 + tax out the door every day. That is sleek too. Just an alternative is all.

Thanks. Might have to check that out. My 64MB one is starting to limit my storage needs. Sure beats using a floppy.

Warning! The key loop on that drive is very fragile! I bought one and it was gone in coupe of days

The ecost extra add-on handling fee annoys me just enough to prevent my doing business with them.


Off-topic: anyone tried making a USB drive bootable that didn't come with boot utility software? My application is a T23 ThinkPad that can boot off a USB removable drive (I think) but not a USB hard drive.

She liked it and wanted another, so I got another next time I was at Walmart Supercenter (happened to be a different Walmart).

I bought my Dell Lattitude with a Dell branded (Lexar) USB key. I found this site that has a util for making it bootable and it works great on this laptop, which does support booting from a USB device. I don't think it can hurt your usb drive to format it with this util, so it may be worth a try.

Bottom line is..I think any USB drive should be bootable when formatted properly, it's more a matter of whether or not your BIOS supports it.
