Not a 3 series short of the M3 that can run with the Z, and the 5 is much more. Neither of those can be had for under $27K, either, like a Z can. The M3 is nearly $20,000 more.

The 330Ci is about on par with the Inifiniti G35C, though. Both of those are nice cars, but not the same car class as a 2 seat 350Z. Two seaters and sedans are different markets.

To each their own. I understand people not liking the cars, but don't go comparing it to things it doesn't compete against in either price or performance.

The base models list for $26,809, and you can find them for that. Some of us are buying for less than MSRP. I got my Touring model for $2614 back of list in the midwest (right after 14" of snow) You just have to work at it and look around. The dealer where I bought mine is still selling for $800 to $1500 less than list while it is cold, so they can keep their summer allocation high.

Most are still paying MSRP, though, especially in markets like CA.

Don't know what CA market your refering to, but in San Diego there are 200+ names on the dealers waiting lists here locally. PPL are paying MSRP+ to get their hands on these. Saw the Touring (with Navi) selling at $42k.

I was kinda underimpressed once I drove/rode in one, maybe the RX8 will be the ticket...

Thanks for the deal on the poster, will give it to my buddy that has a 350z

That was my point, CA is one of the markets where you still can't get good deals on them. People are stupid to pay more than MSRP, IMO, though. I'd buy one somewhere else and have it shipped in before doing that for any car. As I said, I got mine well under MSRP.

At the track I used to run at, a guy had a 240 with a GN motor in it, finally go into the 9s with that thing. He had two other GN's and a Turbo TA. One of this GN's had under 2000 miles on it, but I think the 240 was the best.

We need to have AT day at my dyno sometime... (in PA).

Cheers,

Josh

I used to own a 280Z 76'......a tad heavy, but fun as hell to drive. topped it out at 145mph on I-5 heading through Oregon one summer....(car was unmodified and speedo was correct).

I liked the Z's of the 90's....but I'm not very impressed by this "new" Z. I suspect a redo of the image, or cancelling the Z line again.....maybe within 2-3 years. Economy is down...people aren't buying car toys as much anymore. For the money, you can get a BMW 3 or even a 5 series that is wwaayyy more confortable, better desigined (in and out), plus it'll keep up with the "new" Z.

My $.02....off topic I know, but I couldn't help myself.
I'm sorry, but if you think they're going to cancel a car that's sold out for the next year and a half already, you're nuts =P

Unless Nissan is run by complete idiots at this point, selling all the units you make generally means PROFITS. And amazingly, PROFITS keep a car company selling a car...

Thus I don't see the Z dying ANYTIME soon...and the fact that the economy isn't so great only helps boost the Z's sales vs competition from BMW.

But yes, the Z is sold out for quite a while so MSRP isn't what you're gonna pay nowadays...

Well people in the East with horrible weather are getting all the breaks... the new Yamaha R6 is being jacked up so much... close to 10k sometimes you might as well get an R1. Here on the other hand... we have dealers marking everything up... i cannot find a touring either at 33-34 or lower...

Depends on where you are. Like I said, I paid over $2600 less than MSRP in the snowy midwest.

Once the temps come up, though, even those areas will start selling better again.

The new Z is a great car... when you own one you won a piece of history .. but it wil not keep up with a 90-96 TT Z.
Also as mentioned here, the interior looks cheap !! but I might get one soon !!
Here are some shots of my current Twin Turbo Z on a sunny day in La Jolla .. hehe.. actualy all days are sunny here (-:

Was anyone else's poster crushed? That makes about 3 or 4 posters (and other packages) UPS has crushed on me in the past. Seems like they'd give a poster tube a little more care. Put it up on top, or in a rack or something. And by the time you get these free posters, if their damaged, the promotion is over so you can't get anymore.

I dunno why the supply is like that, we have several 350Z's where I'm at (Tennessee), even a touring one for about 34k (cause it's technically used, but only 300 or so miles). Why are people paying over MSRP for these? Just fly out to the east coast, pick one up for MSRP or less, and drive back. You save money, get to take a trip, and get to really test out the 350Z on the drive back home
