So what exactly does this useful gadget do?

Just from an initial glance it allows you to log voltage measurements to your computer. So if you hooked it up to a +9V battery it would record a measurement of +9V to your computer repeatedly, taking measurements at whatever sampling rate it's using. Depending on the software and specs it could be used as an oscilloscope, showing the change of a signal with time.

Unless you're into electronics it's not much use I guess, but I'll definitely be playing with it.

Now to see if they send them out to the thousands of us that request them It seems like they're of some value, ~$100

I just connected the cuecat to the digital inputs (it has two) and can see the curves etc.
One drawback I encountered is that the software won't let you save more than one curve.
But hey, it's free....

Awesome find! This should go well with my A&EP 264 class (Computerized Instrumentation Design) - that's if I want to do lab work in my room
We're already using a similar A/D converter board from the same company, but has many more channels, for collecting data from thermistor circuits.

As you seem to know these , are there any drivers or DLL to access the board directly via C or any other common language?
The original software is not flexible and limited.

attention: the board has a serial interface so maybe you can connect to it using a terminal program or write a c program to grab the serial port and gather the data. I did this very thing for part of my senior design project but I don't have the information anymore and I can't remember how I did it. I think I sent a command or character to the serial port and it presented the digital data as an answer or something like that.

there are probably examples of serial port send/grab programs all over the net.

I got one before it jumped to $15 plus S/H. That still isn't too bad a deal if we can find some software to interface to this board. Note that the problem with only being able to save one track is because the software is in demo mode. For $49 more you get to save all 4 channels, hehe...

The S/H is only $1 so it ain't too bad a deal even now. My dad was looking at these babies in his electronics catalogs and a 8 port goes for $90. Maybe that comes with better software though...

Anyone find interesting uses for this? I've been playing with measuring battery voltage. I've also got a thermister (temp. sensor) that I never hooked up to my BE6 that will be fun to play with... Light sensors? Moniter the +/- 5v of the computer? (just don't go to the 12v because the voltage limit on it is +/- 10v)

This will be fun to play with.

hey, i got one of those boards for free. they are smaller than i expected. if anyone comes up with any cool ideas for it, post it or put it on a website. Id like to do some interesting projects with it. If anyone writes software for it thats even better.

It must be possible to write a program on a pda to take inputs from this A/D board. then Id be able to have a portable logger of some sort.
