Is this dead?

I got on this the other day when it started, but since it says one entry per e-mail per day, I went to do it again just now and instead of the "congratulations you're one of the first 100,000 message", I got the following:

"Your entry has been received. Winners will be selected in a random drawing on or about 12/21/04 from all eligible entries received and will be notified by mail. Good luck!"

Is it because I'm already within the 100,000 count or because the first 100,000 is done and now I'm competing for one of the chance prizes?

Yeah, but if you think of it as a marketing ploy, then it's quite nice because most people are not going to buy only $5 of BP gas. They'll use the card when they goto fill-up. Assuming you fill up with $20 worth of gas (based on NYC prices and considering my little Civic uses $18...so I'm being modest), they'll give you $5 off, but you've also secured them $20 of revenue. Assuming that $5 offsets their profit, that's great for them, because gross revenue counts for a lot in business. Not to mention that if they get any of those freebie people to switch to BP as their preferred vendor, then they've done their job.

And $500,000 isnt a lot to a company with gross revenues of $137 Billion in the first 6-months of the year.

(it's only $500,000 or $500K, not 500000K ... that would be a lot of money.)

Yep, got mine too... I really appreciate this as my car's engine really likes 93 over 87 octance, and BP is much more common than other places with 93.
