Man are they skimping on the free stuff. I remember getting 4 sticks of 128 MB of ram for free. Really no room for a 64MB. Thanks anyway

how can I determine if this will be compatible with an old Dell Dimension XPS D Series that I have?

The PC currently has 64mb in it, so I thought maybe this would give it an much needed boost

Not bad. $5.62 shipped after rebate for me.
Too bad the rebate is one per customer otherwise I would have snagged 2!

The header info on that page makes it appear this is notebook memory. Something to be aware of.

Nope, it's definitely not notebook memory, I just picked mine up from a B&M last night. It's a stick of PNY 64MB PC100 SDRAM.

OK, I admit it. I've had my head in a hole in the ground for the last 4-5 months. What hapened to the free RAM deals? Last thing I remember CompUSA and Staples were giving away (after MIR) sticks of PC-133 128 MB PNY RAM, now we have PC-100 64MB sticks? Are we going back in time or what?

(so if we are going back in time does anyone have any hot deals (tips) for stock market? )

Thanks I'll have to pick up a stick. I'm going to upgrade my daughters Barbie PC which currently only has 32mb. Funny thing is, I built a new "nice" system for the kids and was going to retire this one (oh stop the insanity), but for free after rebate I'll take it~!

Yeah, we ARE pretty much going back in time as far as memory is concerned. Haven't you noticed that 128MB sticks are now going for even MORE than 256MB sticks were going for back in September?

for those bought this ram please be aware: mail the rebate form ON march 23rd. not one day early nor late, and received by mar 30th. all others will be DENIED. what kind a-hole is that? but it is clearly printed on their rebate form.

Yeah, we're definitely going back in time. I remember last summer(?) when there was a deal for 256MB sticks were $20 shipped from Dell. Now we're lucky to find 64MB sticks for that price.

Well, I guess if anyone was lucky/smart enough to stock up their PC with cheap RAM this would be a great time to sell it.

I can't imagine this time trip will last forever, something has to give.

(Anyone know why RAM is so expensive now?)

It does look like an a-hole thing to do - have a one day window for mailing rebates? They may have dropped the word "by" (as in "postmarked by 3/23/02"), but one should not count on that. The back has terms and conditions, and says "Mailing envelopes must be post marked 14 days of the close of the promotion...". Same missing "by".

Bought mine today.....both store and online rebate coupon have the postmark 3/23/02 on them, without saying "by" 3/23/02.....

Has anyone called to ask about this wording on the postmark date?

just do the rebate right after you get it so you don't have to worry about the deadline. also, you sale is begin on march 3 so you can't buy this memory at 14.99 before that.

i got two sticks on sunday and already sent out the rebate. just remember to make a copy or scan the whole thing to your computer.

these are obsolete memory but great for helping your relative w/ old computer. they still have plenty in stock when i got mime on late sunday. this is anaheim compusa. not many people buying these obsolete stuff anymore.

remember to pick up the microsoft sidewinder while you at it, there still plenty of stock when i am there.

Thank you Noobody for the heads~up on this rebate. I had to do a double take on the form myself. Sure enough you've got to have a postmark of 3/23/02 on your submission in order for it to be valid. First time I've ever seen that! :Q

They did this last time with the postmark and no "within". They keep using the same screwed up rebate form verbiage. Go ahead and send your rebate in now. Don't try to wait until 3/23.

It should read "Mailing envelopes must be post marked (within) 14 days of the close of the promotion and received within 7 days of that date.

I picked up 2 of these for a friend's budget system. 128 megs of ram is plenty for him, and saved a few bones.

D.C.

EDIT: I SHOUD MENTION THAT EVEN THOUGH THIS IS PC100, IT RUNS 133 CAS2 IN HIS KT7E.

Yep, an ironic twist for the market.

Just a few short months ago, one could buy 1GB of Crucial ram from Dell for just over $30.

And now, those gigs of ram I purchased (if sold) could garner enough to buy an entirely new system.
