I got to the store 15 minutes after they opened...and the RAM were all sold out!

The manager told me to come back tommorow at opening time and there might be some RAM to be had...but I think he was jerking me around on that. Have anyone heard of COMPUSA actually splitting their sales inventory to cover all the sales dates? Methinks they are not that smart.

Actually, I just looked at valuram's site, the ValueRam 128MB is 32x64. So does that PNY 8x64 64MB work with this?

In Seattle... foolish customers were turning down the PC100 after the PC133 sold out.

The PC100 is Infenion 8ns, which runs fine at PC133 CAS2 on my system Good quality stuff.

I got the 7.5 chips, but it refuses to run at 137 mhz cas 2 or cas 3!!
It also has trouble running pc 103!

Just got back from the Mountlake Terrace, WA store. After the mob died down I went back and asked how much PC133 they had left so I could tell a friend. He said "about 100". So I imagine it will last a few more hours at least. If someone who goes could ask a manager about the rebate and post an answer I would appreciate it, i.e. the rebate says limit 1 and the ad say limit 2. I am going to send a copy of the ad with my rebate and just not open 1 until I get the rebate.

I bought two at the CompUSA in Dallas, TX off of Park Lane and 75. They only had 9 of the PC133 to begin with, and I snagged the last two . About 15 people were there at the store opening. Now I have 320 MB of RAM. Woot! I'm also typing this on a new Belkin keyboard from CompUSA, my old one was a year old, had too many "foreign" objects in it. This one has a nice spongy feel. They had a lot more of the PC100.

Just went to the Austin CompUSA (North in the Gateway Center). They still had tons and tons of RAM PC133 when I was there at about 1pm. I got the last sound card though. I'm not sure about the limit on the rebates for the RAM, but everyone that I saw was getting two sticks.

Also managed to pick up two sticks (pc-100) in Rockford IL. I can also confirm that the rebate does say LIMIT ONE while the ad says LIMIT TWO.

Not sure how I'm gonna handle this - may just send two rebate forms in the same envelope, with two UPC's...or perhaps enclose a little note, explaining the discrepancy of the ad vs. the form. What's the general feeling on this?

My local CompUSA store had about 50 people in line before the store opened. The people werecrazy!!! Too bad they only had pc 100 and those jerks in front of me grabbed all of it (2 sticks per person! I thought the ad said 1 per person) Oh well, I'll check it out tommorrow. BTW, does anyone know do they open regular monday time tommorrow or later??? Thx.

Just got back from the Emeryville Ca Compusa. There was like 25 people at 10 waiting for the memory. For about 1 hour they were selling it $.01 as an instore instant rebate. (math doesn't add up but store manager was ringing it manually for 1 penny.) Sku# is 280956 which is not listed on ad but on rebate form. Had a few Sku#271005 but basically the difference is packaging (infineon) Limit 1 on the memory. They had everyone who wanted the memory line up at the cashier and handed 1 to each person. He must have figured out his mistake or something but stopped seling it for 1 penny at 11:00 after charged the $29.99. He had some reason which I didn't hear but who is to argue. Sold out at about 11:15. Said they were not issuing prepaids. I then had them pricematch the two I bought yesterday for 1 penny each. This is great, I have three 64MB DIMM for a total of 3 pennies and I will try and mail in the rebate. Hope you all had as much luck as I did. You wonder why Compusa has so much financial difficulty.

I was first inline at montclair CA. And it was only 20 min before it opened. I got 4 PC133 chips (I came with a friend, he he he), its Infineon 7.5. I have a 256meg Chip of Micron 133 so I havnt tested it yet. By the time the store opened probly 50 were inline, and lots got memory, but they ran out. They couldnt find the rebate forms for a while and were taking down peoples name and address. But I dug through the pile an found them when I checked out. The rebate states one per household but the manager said they will take 2.

I was there at Hauppauge, NY 10:30 AM and there were already 50-60 people ahead of me. I got two sticks of pc133 64 MB by PNY (SKU 271005). They don't have any rebate form. However, I found last one in the floor. I went to ask the CSR if they have any more form, she said nope, borrowed mine and made one copy for me. I told her the form stated only one rebate but the ads said limit two. She said probably you're limit to buy 2 and limit to submit one rebate. Does it make sense?? So I went to see a manager and was told just go ahead and submit 2 rebates. I hope he is right. Since there is a phone number in the form, maybe I will call them up tomorrow.

After the rush there was a move on the RAM and a line was formed.

BAM, out of 133. Then they substituted PC100. 128MB PC100! WOO HOO.

Memo: When you go to these things, do like the folks above mentioned: Bring a friend. One to stand in line for the high$$$ items, one to go with the wolves to raid the freebo crud.

I picked up a 64MB PC133 yesterday and one this morning when I went to get a price reduction. They were all out of PC100 (even though I didn't want PC100) and they were telling people that the only stuff they had was PC133 and that it wouldn't work in their comps unless they ran a 133MHz bus. I explained to the customer that basically they didn't know what they were talking about in that in actually the PC133 is better and backwards compatabile. Gotta love sales people.

So now I gotta send some rebate forms out.

Gotta love 256MB of RAM in Windows 2000 rather then my measily ol' 128.

Either you were in Long Beach NY, or you were smoking something. Me and the guy you're talking about were trying to force a line, which successfully ended up being the 'memory' line. We got into a shouting match right with some a-hole right before the doors opened, and he ended up leaving (we were hoping he wasn't foraging for ammo).

We got in, and the employees and assistant manager were clueless. He decided to limit everyone to ONE stick of either PC100, PC133, or notebook RAM. I argued the ad clearly stated 2 per person, and I would never of come for just one measly stick, so I weasled my way into one PC133 and one PC100. They only had 12 of PC133, 36 of PC100, and 8 of the notebook total, and there was a line out the door and halfway around the building for the memory alone.

I know they're quite clueless, but you're lying about the 128MB. They wouldn't pricematch the 128MB at the same price as the 64MB (which is what they would have to do because the rebate clearly states the SKU's for the 64MB).
