Just came back from CompUSA. Damn bastards cleaned out all the RAM!!! Oh well, I got a 25 pack TDKs though (there were 2 so I took one). Anyways, don't expect to find any RAM at any CompUSA now because it's too late. Going there 30 minutes after opening is too late, even.

Same old question here -

is it gonna to be a problem when mail in request for 2 rebates??
Coz the rebate form states limiting one per household/address, but the ads flyer states 2 per customer.

Anyone has idea what we can do to get around the dilemma?

Just called the rebate center number. It turns out to be PNY. Anyway, told them that the manager said I can go ahead and send both rebates. Told them that the manager said I can claim both of them. Their answer was that they will only honor the first rebate. If the manager said that, then he would have to do a store instant rebate. Let me know what you all think.

I picked up two PC100 (they were out of pc133)...I was told by the store manager that because the compusa stated 2 per customer, the rebate would apply too and that the rebate company is aware of this and will honor both rebates. I wasn't told anything about an in-store instant rebate....

I'll be back later to post my results after I get these sticks installed....

I got 2 Infineon HYB39S4800CT-7.5 sticks. Infineon site shows this as "133MHz 4B x 2M x 8 64MBit SDRAM".(Whatever that means, LOL! (I know from diddly about RAM) Sku was the #280956 which is not listed in the ad but is listed on the rebate form. I had mine put on 2 separate receipts - just in case - and will mail them separately. For those that have 2 on the same receipt I would definitely save the original CompUSA ad that says limit of 2. The manager at my store told me if I have any problems I could bring the "rejection card" back to the store along with my receipt and they would "take care of it". Two sales clerks assured me that this was true.

Damn, I had 2 pc133 sticks on hold.
Anyone can drive to Tukwila store in Washington.
I'm willing to give you both.

MAD RUSH indeed.
I tried to call CompUSA up to place a hold on 2 memory sticks.
CSR lied big time. Out of stock.
When I went there. There were 50 of these at the computer upgrade center already and:
They just keep bringing them out.

I grabbed the last WebCam but one guy insists on getting it for his nephew so I gave him. It's useless for me anyway. They were out of free after MIR modems and sound cards. Told a CSR to hold 2 sticks for me. They better keep it. Can't buy more than 2 sticks with a credit card i think.
MAD RUSH, biggest sale of the year. Everything's cheaper than hell.

I also talked to several CSRs and they said 2 sticks rebate per household are good.
That also means $60 bux MIR back.
They said there's a misprint on the rebate form.
Its supposed to be 2 sticks limit per rebate per household.
I'll just send in both forms to be sure.

I got to my local CompUSA about 20 minutes after they opened. A number of employees told me that the RAM was ALL GONE, except for the "notebook memory." Then I was told I could order it, pick it up another day, and get a receipt with the right date for the rebate. So I get on the "corporate order" line, and after 20 minutes speaking with the rep (who also told me they're out of it), another employee comes out screaming, telling her that there are EIGHT FULL CASES of this RAM in their "warehouse" (that's the back room )...5 minutes later, they bring out a whole box worth.

Then I'm told it's only 1 per customer (not 2 as shown in the ad)...so I got one and my mother got one (PC133, SKU #280956)...it rings up $49.99 instead of $29.99. Manager goes in and changes the price in the computer. I spent over an hour in that store just for the 2 RAM and 2 Epson Photo Paper (out of stock, but I ordered it, free after rebate).

Doubled my memory from 128MB to 256MB for free. I installed this PC133 memory in my Dell Dimension XPS-T700 which supposedly "only" takes "100 MHz" memory, but it seems to be working fine.

Showed up at my CompUSA five minutes before they opened. Was about 20th in line. When they opened a bunch of us went to the counter that handles RAM and hard drives. We formed a nice quiet line waiting for our ram. The red shi(r)ts (employees) did not have a clue about what was going on. They were running around trying to figure out what to do with all these people who wanted free RAM. One red Shi(r)t decides to start another line and started handing out the ram to the folks that were at the end of the line (WTF). They were handing out 4-6 sticks for each person who wanted it (WTF). They ran out when I was about 3rd in line, in the original line. About 10-15 of us were standing in line and said we wanted to talk to the manager. Manager finally came out (was probably hiding waiting for the crowd to dwindle). He was all apologetic and said that they should have had more and that he was going to call "corporate" monday (yeah, right). He did take down our names and numbers and said that he would give us a "commit". I guess he was saying he was making a commitment to get us our ram. Anyway, it was the biggest CF I have seen in a long time. I gave the manager a piece of my mind, not so much about the number of ram they had in stock, but about how they mis-handled the whole thing.

The day gets worse...

After I left CompUSA I headed to Circuit City to pick up one of the free after rebate web cams (plan to use it at work). Picked up the last one off the shelf. Brought it to checkout counter but it would not ring up. Guy asks where I got it from. Showed him. He takes the cam back in the back and says something about it being a "pickup". Came back from the back without cam and said he could not sell it to me (WTF). I argued with him to no avail. He was a sale manager. He didn't budge. Said he would order one for me and that it would be there by Wednesday. I continued to give him a hard time cause I was going to have to make a second trip. He didn't care. Ask for his manager's name, Corporate number, etc. I'm gonna complain to his manager and corporate monday for the way he handled this issue.

Not my day.

I called another CSR from PNY and this guy also insisted that they will not honor any more than one rebate per household and that if you want the second $30, then you would have to get it from the manager at CompUSA even after I told him about the situation.

The Honolulu CompUSA probably wont run out. They got boxes and boxes of this stuff. Everyone in the store was rushing for the Free RAM, Surge supressor, Video CAM, TDK CDRs, and sound card. The 16x Yamaha for $200 and 40GB 7200RPM ATA100 Maxtor HD for $100 + Free ATA100 card was also flying.

By the way, the Infineon 7.5ns PC133 RAM can get up to 150MHz CAS2. WOW, for free too!!

Compusa in Honolulu still has a bunch of PC133 left. There was a long @ss line for it though. The ram I got is packaged as compusa brand...and the chips are Infineon 7.5!

The rebate is one per household, so I bought 2, 1 for me and 1 for the gf

mine 2 sticks are working now @140mhz cas2 on my KT7raid with tbird700@900, everything looks normal. doing prime95 for an hour now, torture test...

beware - the stick uses high density chips from infineon, it may not work with old chip set and mother board...

someone confirmed that the one rebate per addr/household has been a misprint, (see some other threads), so we may be able to get a full 60$ rebate on two sticks...

I went to the CompUSA in Highland Park they had everything when I went at 5:30 PM. I bought one stick of memory,TDK 25 pack and a 10 pack of jewel cases. They were out of rebate forms for everything. I sign my name on a list and I they said they will call when they get more forms in.

I may go back tomorrow and get another stick if there is two per household?

So, I installed one of my 2 @ 64 MB sticks-- I have one old stick (probably PC100) and one new stick (pc133) in right now. (I couldn't physically remove the old stick without remove a bunch of things to reach my hands in there.)

Right click My Computer>Properties and it shows 128 MB (correct). Anything else I need to check for? How do I check cl2 or 3? I have an oddball motherbord, VM72A or something and don't overclock, but I'd like to start trying that on the new VIA 133A chipset board I will be getting. Is there some way to find out *now* about this RAM? I have Samsung chips on this PC133.
