I just got off the phone with a csr rep at the pny rebatehq. I called the number on the rebate from and the csr I talked with told me to SEND in BOTH INDIVIDUALY. Also to make sure I only had one per Address. So CompUSA has nothing to do with this rebate so whatever they told you won't hold true.

I got one stick, of the 64meg PC133 with Infineon chips running at 143MHz cas2 and all other ram settings on a Abit KT-7 raid maxed out.....I can't believe they were giving this stuff away (after rebate). We also picked up the free (after rebate) jewel cases and can of air. And yes there were a ton of rude pushy people there as well.

I have NEVER had good luck with the rain check orders at CompUSA or Best Buy here in MI. Of the 3 items Ive rainchecked, I have never got a call back about one. So for those of you that do get it, great, but dont hold yer breath.

I always scan everything on my scanner before sending off the rebates. You can scan as black/white document and save as TIF format. It usually looks way less lossy than JPG. It is always good to have some form of backup or proof if these things don't fall through right away. I plan to send my memory rebates off in two separate envelopes.. one with my fiance's name and our old address that is still forwarding mail to us and the other with my name at our current address. Better to have a chance at all $60 in MIR than only $30. Not sure if they will reject one of them though if they see my name from the credit card I used on the receipt for my fiance's submission. We'll see what happens. By the way, US mail forwards for up to a year, especially things that look like checks, so if you've moved within a year and did the business at the postal service to make your mail forward, your old address will function as a forwarder (and avenue to take advantage of 2 rebates when only 1 per household).

Wow, I just found 2 sticks of RAM @ a CompUSA that's half an hour drive from my house. BTW I just called the PNY rebate center, and they said limit one and have to go to store to argue, so oh well, let's see how this settles at the end.

For those interested, the offer for the PC133 is now online at Here!

It's listed at $30.00 and you can use the scanned rebate form found earlier in this thead. Note, however, that the rebate MUST be postmarked 14 days from the end of the promotion..(today!), so be careful.

Good Luck

Nice! $30 online! Are you sure the scanned rebate will work?
Will the rebate people notice it's scanned and not accept it? I mean, all rebates have like a ID or serial number somewhere on the sheet.

And I guess the 2 rebates dilemma is over too, that you can only get 1 rebate per household?

Again, This rebate must be for 2, as they mentioned limit two free sticks.

Anyone call compusa?

we gotta bitch to them!

I know it's limit 2 sticks, but how many rebates limited? Limit one rebate for 2 sticks? I hear a lot of people call the rebate company and they said they only accept 1 rebate.

I'm just worried the scanned rebate won't accepted.

I just spoke with the rebate center at CompUSA corporate (800-266-7872) and talke with a Mr. Gary Lee. He said about the 2 stick rebate "we're sponsoring those and we'll honor 2 per household."

I asked him if I only had to send in one rebate form and he said "yes".

Now if somebody else would call them and get a confirming second opinion and post it, I think we can all relax and send them in. And be sure to get a name, hopefully someone other than Mr. Lee.

So somebody be a bit proactive and call in instead of bitching, moaning and speculating.

I got to the CompUSA in Nashville at 12:00 pm Sunday when they opened (thank you TN blue laws for not making me get up early ). Walked right up to the parts counter and the guy handed me 2 sticks of PC133, didn't even have to ask. It's Infineon HYB39S128160CT-7.5 C2 (good stuff). Check the Infineon web site and the chip is listed under the 128MB SDRAM product page with the following description "133MHz 4B x 2M x 16 16MBit SDRAM". The Infineon datasheet indicates that it is rated for CAS 3 (Function Code = PC 133-333-522). Looks like you need the .....CT-7 chips for CAS 2 rating. I also picked up the free sound card, web cam and air can.

I got the UMax Astra 2100U scanner for $29.99 after rebate. The Visioneer 4400 USB scanner that I picked up at Staples last week for $19.95 after rebate was a piece of crap. The Astra 2100U is not as fast as my old SCSI Umax but it has the scan, copy and custom buttons on the front that makes it idiot proof (honey, this scanner is for you ).

The Hival PCI338 sound card has the Aureal Vortex 1 (AU8820) chip. I spent most of the day Sunday trying to get this card working with no luck. The drivers installed OK and I forced the IRQ to 5 in BIOS so that it wouldn't have to share with any other devices. The PC boots, Windows ME loads and the WinME startup jingle plays, but when I run Winamp, Windows Media Player or any other sound program the PC locks solid. I downloaded the latest Aureal reference drivers from Vortex of Sound but they didn't help. Anyone else have any luck installing the Hival PCI338 sound card ????????? I noticed a set of drivers named "Aztech PCI 338 A3D", should I use these drivers ?????? HELP

I stopped by CompUSA today at opening just on the off chance they might have resupplied. They hadn't, but they were allowing prepay for later pickup. So, I have paid receipts for 2 x 64MB PC133 with today's date, and they put my name on a list to be notified when they're in stock. W00t!

I just picked up a PC 133 64 MB from the store, but now I'm wondering does it work, because HP's site said it needs 10 ns, and the RAM is rated 7.5 ns. So, what do u people think???

NEWBIE COMPUTER USERS:

all ram is backwards compatible. pc 133 works on pc 33 and pc 100 and pc 66.

completely disregard the people at your OEM retailer.

ss284 is right, the RAM speed doesn't matter... if it is faster that is OK. If it doesn't work, it is because of chip layout, not because of speed.

Z80 - read the post I put earlier in the thread. I ended up removing the sound board, it wouldn't work reliably in two of my systems (Asus P3V4x and Asus CUSL2). It worked fine under Win98, but I use Win2K and it would lock up. I have a lot of busmaster PCI adapters in my system (Ethernet, Promise Ultra66)... and it just doesn't play nice. I went back to my ISA sound blaster...

Can we buy the sticks online and use the MIR form if we pick them up at a B&M?

I don't have a copy of the MIR so I was just wondering what it said. I missed out on the RAM because I didn't want to hurt people in an attempt to save $60. At 5'11" 215lbs I can take most people

That's what I was thinking, buying 2 sticks online for $60 and then using the scanned rebate picture. Don't know if rebate center will accept the scanned picture since it's not the original rebate form from the store.

The rebate form doesn't mention anything about using the "original" rebate form...

This is the "HOT DEAL" forum, there are several forums devoted to hardware issues, you might want to check them out if you have questions regarding compatibility.

Furthermore most question about speed etc. have already been answered in earlier posts, so read them!

Also answered is the 2 limit question. I also called the 800 number and spoke with a Sharon Rush, she confirmed that you could send in for 2 rebated using one rebate form. She suggested that you enclose a note pointing out that you're requesting 2 rebates.

It amazes me the amount of times people take the time to ask others for information that they can easily gather themselves. Lazy or incompetent #$42^$%#@61@s!!

Too late for me. Cant use slow memory on my DDR 266 bus board. Although I picked up two sticks and the sound card for a system that I am selling. The sound card works fine with Windows XP, but WinMe was too terrible to even mention its name.
