stingygrrl:

Sounds like it's workin if it's showin up under windows. I take it the old stick you had in there was 64 MB and you just added one new 64MB stick? If so then it should say 128MB.

If it doesnt boot up or it doesn't show up under windows then you have a problem.

2 upcs, 1 receipt, 1 original mir form should be fine. At least a CSR told me. Although, I used 2 mir forms just in case.
Shine them up real nice and shove them straight up in an envelope.
Be sure to write down the rebate phone number in case the check doesn't come.

Thanks jacobnero

I think it's CAS 3 - is there somewhere I flip a switch to run it at 2? Is it motherboard/BIOS dependent?

doraemon - 290471 in an orange PNY box. receipt shows 271005

FYI...
You overclock ram in the bios(in advanced category). Just like overclocking CPU. I have an abit Kt7 overclocking a duron 650 with this ram 650@888. Could get higher but I dont like random restarts The ram I got from CompUSA was PC133 7.5 CAS2. I have it completely cranked in the bios and it is stable. If anyone wants an article on how SDRAM is overclocked you can email me and I will send it. It explains CAS latency, RAS-to-CAS delay, and RAS precharge time.

That ram is a good deal!! I got the webcam and the Hi-Val soundcard and already returned them.:frown: They arent worth squat.

Compressed air,RAM,TDK blanks and keyboard is what i ened up with.

The modem is ok...but will not run under Win2K..unless you wanna write the driver

Help memory experts...

After waiting in line for an hour, I managed to get two sticks of 64 Meg PC100. They ran out of PC133 right before I got to the front of the line.
Anyway...
One stick has 8 Infineon chips on it...
The other stick has 4 Hyundai chips on it...

Is there a problem running the two sticks together on the same motheboard?

Sirgalahad, today, at 3:45 PM, I was told by a store manager (Jim, the front end manager of a Phoenix area store) that CompUSA was going to honor 2 rebates per customer, even though the rebate forms said limit 1 per customer, because of the ambiguous wording of the ad. He and someone at another local CompUSA said to fill out and enclose 2 rebate forms in the envelope.

[bfill out and enclose 2 rebate forms in the envelope. [/b]

The same envelope, or would 2 separate work better?

Is there anyway to call compusa and tell them to deliver the goods to your house if you order over the phone with a CC?

You can mail them separately.
My 2 sticks purchase is shown on 1 receipt so I'd send it with 2 mir forms.

You can mail them separately only if you have 2 receipts. (original is required).
The rebate form that I have says "copy of sales receipt"

I got 2 pc133s and they have 2 different Infineon chips, so a few questions for anyone who might know: HYB39S128160CT-7.5 and HYB 39S64800CT-7.5. Is the first a high density one? Will they work fine together? Is one preferred over the other?

Thanks!

I bought a stick of 64MB of Notebook memory from CompUSA. I asked for a 100mhz SODIMM and got a package that had 100 handwritten on it. On the memory board itself is a sticker that says "SDRAM SODIMM 64MB 10ns 4k" which leads me to believe its 66mhz memory. On the chips themselves it says "Samsung 025, K4S2816328-TC1L".

Did I just get screwed? Is the memory 100mhz or 66mhz?

The CompUSA that I went to only had laptop memory left. Ugh, did they really expect only a few customers asking for the 64MB sticks? I called the two closest CompUSAs near me and the lady said that one had 6 and the other had 11. I asked if it was "real time" inventory and she said "No, that's the inventory before the store opened. The store has been opened for 2 hours".

I specifically asked about that, and both employees said to put both rebate forms in the same envelope. In the past when I've encountered this kind of problem, I found it was better to mail everything together because the company was more likely to void one of the rebates otherwise. I also include a note explaining the situation, in case they didn't receive word.

larrymoencurly -

So, in the past, you have received the rebate for 2 when the rebate slip says only for 1? Good to hear... With PNY, out of curiosity?

I went to Emeryville too. Grabbed a RAM stick for a penny. This is one of the best deals so far! .01 and I don't even have to send in a rebate! (Though I might.... 29.99 and a stick of ram is a good deal for a stamp).

ncg, this is the first time I've bought RAM with a rebate, so I don't know about PNY, but I've had rebate forms say "limit 1" when the store and ad said otherwise, and I always got my multiple rebates. But I'm not taking chances in this case, so I'm not unwrapping the second DIMM until I check with CompUSA HQ.

larrymoencurly, you're right on that. There is a phone number in the rebate form 1-866-856-3966, but this maybe a processing center and they may not know anything about it. Should you call CompUsa HQ or PNY?
