I got to the CompUSA in Nashville at 12:00 pm Sunday when they opened (thank you TN blue laws for not making me get up early ). Walked right up to the parts counter and the guy handed me 2 sticks of PC133, didn't even have to ask. It's Infineon HYB39S128160CT-7.5 C2 (good stuff). Check the Infineon web site and the chip is listed under the 128MB SDRAM product page with the following description "133MHz 4B x 2M x 16 16MBit SDRAM". The Infineon datasheet indicates that it is rated for CAS 3 (Function Code = PC 133-333-522). Looks like you need the .....CT-7 chips for CAS 2 rating. I also picked up the free sound card, web cam and air can.
I got the UMax Astra 2100U scanner for $29.99 after rebate. The Visioneer 4400 USB scanner that I picked up at Staples last week for $19.95 after rebate was a piece of crap. The Astra 2100U is not as fast as my old SCSI Umax but it has the scan, copy and custom buttons on the front that makes it idiot proof (honey, this scanner is for you ).
The Hival PCI338 sound card has the Aureal Vortex 1 (AU8820) chip. I spent most of the day Sunday trying to get this card working with no luck. The drivers installed OK and I forced the IRQ to 5 in BIOS so that it wouldn't have to share with any other devices. The PC boots, Windows ME loads and the WinME startup jingle plays, but when I run Winamp, Windows Media Player or any other sound program the PC locks solid. I downloaded the latest Aureal reference drivers from
Vortex of Sound but they didn't help. Anyone else have any luck installing the Hival PCI338 sound card ????????? I noticed a set of drivers named "Aztech PCI 338 A3D", should I use these drivers ?????? HELP
