FREE 64mb RAM!!! @ CompUSA (MIR)

I just picked up two of the 64mb for notebooks at the Westlayan
store in Houston, TX. The cashier photocopied me a rebate form
but I couldn't read the mailing addy on it at all.

This store still had some of the pc100 desktop dimms left.

I got two of the sticks on sunday, the ones that they had to use to replace the advertized ones. Anyhow, I got nervous and took one back and took it off of my debit card and had my friend buy it back immediately. I then paid him cash for the ram. I'm gonna use my work address for one and home for the other rebate. Anyhow, the point was that while i was there, the clerk saw that i had two rebate forms. She asked to take one and make copies for the other customers who might need one because they had run out. Apparently, an origional rebate form is not necessary.

The white rebate form with the green printing on it says, on the left side, "Completed coupon should be sent along with a copy of the sales receipt & original UPC from packaging to:"

And on the right side, under "Terms and Conditions," it says, "Mail this completed form, a copy of sales receitp with date and purchase price clearly visible, and original, UPC code (included on packaging)...Only this certificate and invoice, together with the original UPC code will be honored. Photocopies of the UPC will not be accepted."

OTOH, at least 4 CompUSA employees I've spoken with personally have said that the limit of 1 rebate per household (printed on the rebate form but not on the ad) does not apply, and we're eligible for 2 rebates if we enclose 2 rebate forms in a single envelope.

I'm burning in one of those PC133 sticks at 66 MHz in my FIC PA-2007 mobo - no problems so far. I've never had a PC100 or PC133 stick not work at 66 MHz.

I arrived at the local Fort Worth CompUSA store about five minutes after they opened on Sunday and all the PC133 DIMMs were already gone.
I managed to purchase two of the PC100 CAS2 DIMMs though, which will work for my immediate needs.
I noticed that the chips on the two DIMMs I purchased were Infineon 7.5 ns chips which surprised me since I thought 7.5 ns chips were rated at PC133.

Just got back from Jantzen Beach CompUSA in OR. There was a long line of people trying to get this memory. The sales lady at the desk was 1st telling people they only had notebook memory left. (lie #1). If you got past that lie and asked for 64m of pc133 memory, she would then say that the memory only worked at 133Mhz fsb and nothing less. (lie #2) Then she would go on say that it only worked in certain manufacturers machines and wouldn't guarantee it in any machine unless they sold it there at their store. (lie #3) Then she would go on to say that the rebate is only good for 1 stick not 2. (lie #4) She managed to turn away most people from the first statement. When I got up there I asked for 2 packages and listened to her try to persuade me not to get it. I finally took the memory out of her hands and asked her how she lives with herself, and left. Just amazing how they survive.

So why is Compusa or pony or whoever it is, giving away free ram? This sounds like one of those things too good to be true.

Didn't realize ram was that cheap to make that they can give it away free. If this is the case, then they have been ripping us off for a long time now.

Anyways, I did call the rebate center for your info, it was listed on the rebate, and the CSR mentioned that if the rebate says 1 per household, they will only honnor one per household. You can buy 2, but only recieve a rebate for one.

And punkie, MY Compusa is already closed, I was asking the people further west to call and see whats going on.

I nabbed the sticks-o-ram and a car load of stuff! I went to the Troy, Michigan store. The same one as Nack. I was pretty early, and was near the front of the line. They had shopping baskets full of PC-133 RAM. They ran out and then got more. I think everyone who came got one. The funny thing is that there was so much ram that they ran out of rebate forms. People got the ram but didn't get any rebate forms. I watched some people decline the PC133 ram and ask for PC100. Going to install the ram and sound card tommorrow. BTW, is the maxtor hard drive deal a good one? I got one with the ATA 100 comtroller card for $200 with two $50 rebates but wasn't sure if it was a good deal.

The compusa in totowa nj i was the first person in line to get the memory. THey only found 5 at first and the line was over 30 people then they finally found some a box full of memory from other manufacture after 35 minutes and man it was hectic. I was able to get 3 memory for some reason i got 2 133 at first and he asked me again when i was checking out that do you still want 1 so i got 1 pc100 too. Not sure if i can get rebate for 2 on 1 household. Anyway then their computers wont accept any visa or mastercard and that took 30 minutes before they just started to manually OVERIDE the pc's. WHAT A MORNING!! Luckily i got the memory after freezing my A** for 20 minutes waitign for them to open.

Becareful, if you want to return something, on the receipt it says that COMPUSA's policy is that you have to return it within 14 days. And there is a 15% restocking fee for opened items.

Get to CompUSA at 5:00 pm today, and it still has the RAM. The guy at the counter ask everyone what kind of PC they have, and if you have an older PC or don't know who makes it, he said it won't work. You are not supposed to mix PC66 with PC100 or PC133 because it could kill your mobo, I guess you learn something new everyday . Anyway that turned a lot of people away. And so they still have a lot of RAM left for those who know what they are doing.

Anyway here's a copy of the letter I'm sending in with my rebate stuff. Hope it works, if not I'll be back at my local CrapUsa lickety-split (do people still say that?)

1) Copy of Compusa sales receipt dated 2/19/01. Note there are 2 pieces of PNY 64 meg memory (sku 271005) purchased.

2) 2 original upcs from the memory purchased.


3) 1 rebate form, filled out.


Please note:

Although the rebate for states that the limit is one rebate per household, the Compusa advertisement stated that the limit was two. Furthermore both Mr. Gary Lee and Ms. Sharon Rush from Compusa Corporate (1-800-226-7872) have confirmed that the rebate will be honored for two pieces of memory.

They also confirmed that a copy of the rebate form will be accepted due to a shortage of forms at the retail store.

If you have any problems with the rebate for $60, please contact the afore mentioned Compusa representatives and work it out with them. I?m acting in good faith and expect you to do likewise.

If for some reason you honor only one of the 2 legitimate rebates, I insist that you return the second UPC to the address printed on the rebate form as soon as possible.

also compatible with pc100 &amp; pc66. SKu 271005 on box there is this big sticker 64814GSEM-CS 64MB SYN DIMM 133 upc 751492196015 assuming you bought this then it would work in ANY Sytem.
