Steve,

You're kidding right? Tell me you're just yanking my already too tight chain. After it's pointed out that everything you could possibly need to know about this rebate is in this thread, you still have the unmitigated gall to ask where to find the rebate form?

Oh this is good. This is simply too rich.

So far others have done this for you:
-Called Compusa and confirmed that they'll honor 2 rebates.
-Scanned and provided a link to a copy of the rebate form.
-Written a letter for you to cut & paste and send.
-RE-POSTED A PREVIOUS LINK pointing to the rebate form

If you give me a day or so I'll come over and lick the stamp for you. Wouldn't want you to exert any effort.

Yeah I may be cranky, and maybe I got up on the wrong side of the world. But I'm still able to look through the damn thread and find the link for the rebate form.

I called the rebate center (the nubmer on the form) they are not CompUSA they are in fact PNY or are acting on PNY's benifit. I talked with 2 csr (one csr told me to just use two addreses) and 2 supervisors both assured be they didn't care what compusa had said. The rebate for I was told is a legal contract hence the TERMS & CONDITIONS. With this in mind I called the local CompUSA in Syracuse, NY there I spoke with a sales clerk and manager both once again told me that the flyer says limit two. It does not say anything about 2 rebates. They then told me to just you a friends name and address or something similar.

I didn't however call Compusa corp. So I hope you taped your call with them because I don't think you'll ever see 60bucks or your form back.

I have no doubt that I'll get my $60 rebate. It may have to come from CompUsa corporate, or maybe from the local store, but I, for one, will get my rebate. I always have. I am not afraid!

UPDATE---

In fact I just called the local GM and he's agreed to give me an "instant" rebate! See? No problem.

At first he said he print me two receipts and suggested that I could use two different addresses. I pointed out that he was making his screw-up my problem. He relented and offered the instant rebate. BTW this is in the Burbank store.

Of course I still have my "brothers" rebates to worry about

And for those of you who have problems with the new memory, I did too, it wouldn't "register" the new stick. I just took out all three sticks and re-installed them in a different order. I don't pretend to know why, but now it sees all three of 'em! 256meg. Yippee!

1st thing I should let people know:

YOU CAN GET A RAINCHECK / PREORDER the sticks and get a receipt with today's date and pick it up in a few days when they restock. At least this was the case at the Monteclair, CA store as of 3:30 PM. If you missed out, call up your local one and see if they give rainchecks.

I just found this out after calling up the national CompUSA line, and then going to CompUSA for the 4rth time this weekend. I missed out on the deal yesterday, but just got 1 stick on preorder.

Second thing, this isn't the first time CompUSA has had this problem. About 3 years ago they had a similar rebate problem for 16MB EDO sticks they were giving away for "free". Back then CompUSA said they would honor the 2nd stick, but after fighting for 8 weeks I ended up getting a rebate for only 1 stick from Kingston.

The manager said I could try sending in 2 per person, but most likely they (PNY) wouldn't honor it, unless CompUSA changes the terms of the rebate. Considering that they are in a money crunch right now, I doubt they would renegotiate the rebate contract.

I'm not going to get greedy as these deals pop up all the time. 4 months ago it was Equalfooting giving out the same sticks for free.

At the Burbank store earlier today some guy was trying to prepay. The CSR wouldn't have any of it. She firmly told him hey were not taking pre-pays and not giving out rainchecks. The guy slithered away.

It doesn't pay to be timid with these clerks. I felt like telling the guy to stand up to her and DEMAND satisfaction. Don't know if it woulda worked, but it was worth the effort.

No copies of the rebate? I thought it was only no copies of the UPC and receipt. Does it say no copies of the rebate on the rebate?

I think people are over concerned about the rebates.
CompUSA said they will do.
If the rebate center won't, I bet they will honor that amount, the least is store credit or some sort of other compensations.

Is this rebate publically online on compusa's site? If not, then I'd rather not risk it with a scanned one.

The rebate form has the SKU numbers listed on it...including 271005 which if for PC133...but remember, PC133 will run as PC100 in a PC...so I think it's just a generic title. The UPC is all that matters in this case.

How high is an Elite Member? I checked the Help section and it only goes from Junior to Member to Senior to Golden to Platinum to Diamond, no Elite.

Here is the phone # on the rebate form: 1-866-856-3966

If you have any questions about whether they will accept a photocopy, or a scan, or anything else regarding this particular rebate, get up off your asses and do something for yourself, CALL THEM!

I, for one, am amazed at how many times one person can ask the same question in this, as well as other threads. How damn dense can you be? Stop asking whether they will accept a printout of a scanned rebate form. Call them and get the answer straight from them!

bfavre,

To answer the Off Topic question about Elite member....It isn't based on the number of posts, but the quality of the post and is at the discression of the Anandtech Administrator. It also helps to get a few votes from other members in the "polls" that show up every now and then....usually in the Off Topic forum.

Look this really isn't brain surgery, although it does seem like some are suffering from a lobatomy gone bad.

This is a deal just like any other deals with some grey area. Just call the friggin numbers and explain the situation to the CSR. If you receive a response that does not fit your personal agenda, say thank you, hang up, and keep calling until you get somebody who agrees with your view. When you find this saint be sure to record their name and exactly what they told you, if needed at a later time.

This is the way it works with Staples PM's, rebates, and life in general.

Personally I've already got my rebate for this deal, but only after I took some initiative to make CompUsa live up to their promise. Don't foget this, it's your ace in the hole. You have a published ad saying you get two of these suckers for free after rebate!

Outlaw Wolf was correct, eventually compusa will make good, although you also may need to persuade them. For what it's worth Punkie & McCall also had it right IMHO.

So far about 212 posts on this thread, at least 2 dozen of them laying out how to get your $60 back, facts, names, numbers, scans, links. What more can we do for you? We're here to help & to serve.

I know what others have posted about what CompUSA managers, or even CompUSA corporate, have said regarding them honoring two rebates per household. I believe them, even though I did not call myself. I also know that the rebate fulfillment center told me when I called them that they would only honor one rebate per household.

I have to be in the area of my local CompUSA tomorrow. I'm going to stop in, confront the manager about the conflicting info, and see if he'll give me an instant rebate in exchange for the UPC code. I've got nothing to lose. If he refuses I'm sending in two rebate forms in seperate envelopes with seperate names and addresses.

As always, others are free to do as they wish. I'm sure this thread will resurface in about 8 weeks when the rebates either do, or don't materialize for those who submit two per household.

i went to compusa 5th avenue around 4pm monday and did not expect them to have any ram and they didnt. however, some people seemed to have gotten the manager to substitute sku 280956 which is also 64mb sdr dimm 133, and i jumped in with them.

there were no rebate forms, and i was a little leery of buying this ram and not being able to get the rebate as it was a different sku, but i figured i can always return it. i put my name and number on some sheet and the rebate lady said she would be calling.

thanks to the scan of the rebate form on roundsparrow, linked to numerous times here, i see that the 280956 sku is also on the rebate form.
i am also relying on the veracity of the '2 rebates ok' posts here.
i see that there is a nice letter written and people say one can use the scanned rebate form, but i would prefer to get an original.
i also wish i bought the two on 2 different receipts, one with cash, like i did to get the two edo rebates a few years back, an even more absurd event, since edo must be used in pairs.

did anyone else get the 280956 substituted?
is there any difference?

i post this with great hesitation and fear.
hopefully punkie will not object to it and berate me for its pointlessness, or get really offended and figure out where i live.
he sounds pretty scary.
