Yeah, cuz why promote free video on demand without any registration or handing over an email address... when you can promote piracy instead.

Thanks for the post, OP.

Edited to add: I hope this starts a trend. I'd love to watch Sci-Fi episodes of Galactica, Dr Who, Stargate SG-1, Stargate Atlantis, etc. this way.

Man, this is awesome. I was watching the desperate housewives I missed last week. Great video quality. I hope they somehow make this profitable for themselves and give us more free videos.

I'm in linux right now and flash support is horrible. Audio eventually lags behind video among other problems. Maybe if it was an mms stream I'd even watch it (with vlc), but flash? Hell no.

Plus I can't even stream the flash right now..

Express Install is not supported by this version of the Flash Player. To upgrade, please visit:

Now the stream is only for 8.x users which unfortunately linux doesn't have.. Lame..

Think I read in newspaper today that CBS is doing something similar.

I'd also like access to some of the scifi stuff I don't get anymore.

The quality is pretty impressive.. especialy considering its flash. Also impressive is that the source image is high resolution. Unfortunatly its a flash compression and a flash based player so theres not a whole lot of control, especialy no way to full screen, so if you have a high resolution display or a low powered laptop where flash is a huge cpu hog, avi is still a much better solution. Its a great first step though. Work efficency is going to take another hit to I imagin.

Btw theres a feedback hotlink, you should use it to voice what you like and don't like about the current setup. IMO they really deserve the feedback after going this far to make an attempt at online viewable tv shows. Esp if you still plan to download it from other sites.

Awesome! Good job ABC, looks like they did some worthwhile research. Easy to access shows with some ads>piracy

I hope more media companies start to embrace the internet this way

Thanks OP! I hope the big networks will continue to move more content online. I need stuff to watch at work.

damnit. why do they give free streaming over the regular internet but we have to pay for mobile streaming to cell phones? it should cost them much less streaming to a cell phone since the vide sizes are much smaller = less bandwidth.

nevertheless, good post op.

Nope, and that is why people keep saying "I'll stick with torrents"

Most peoples tvs are bigger than their monitors so...why would they want to watch TV on a screen the fraction of the size of their monitor.

When I click on the primetime link for the show "Sons and Daughters," it shows like a few different minute long clips. Maybe I'm an idiot, but I cant seem to find a way to play the whole episode.
edit: I guess I am a little slow, since apparently there is a full episodes only link and "Sons and Daughters" isn't included.

it's the convenience factor. why is the post office charging us money to print postage, when it costs more money (paper for the stamps and man hours to station the post office) to do it the old fashion way.

squeezebox is trying to allow you to stream your own recorded content to your phone for free, but verizon and other mobile phone companies are tryign to block them.

True. and in taking a huge step backwards technologically, why would anyone want take such video away from a 42-72 inch display and put it on a 1.5-2.0 inch cell phone display? Just because it can be done doesn't make it worthwhile

Now if only the other stations pick up this idea....ABC is probably my least favorite network.
