I had a pair of the PE902-EBx wireless bridges for awhile. They are easy to set up. I only ran across 2 snags:
1) They had temperature-related snags where they would have difficulty connecting (no signal strength) if one had been on without connection for awhile. Unplugging it for a few seconds didn't help, I had to leave it unplugged for a minute or two. After cooldown, the two bridges would communicate. As long as they both remained plugged in and communicating with each other, they would never lose connection.
2) Standalone devices like networked media players need a crossover cable to work with the bridge. I struggled trying to get an Audiotron to work with a regular network cable for way too long before deciding to try a crossover cable, and voila!
Throughput was a consistent at around 5Mbps. This puts it faster than 11Mbps 802.11b whose throughput I found to be closer to 3.5-4Mbps and not at all consistent.
It is not as fast as 10Mbps HPNA 2.0 which I measured at a consistent 8.0Mbps. However, HomePlug is a LOT more convenient than HPNA. I use HPNA as well, but in my house, phone jacks are few and far between. The living room doesn't have a phone jack, and each room only has 1 jack and of course, on the opposite wall that I need it to be on. I have outlets everywhere. HomePlug is great, it would be perfect if it were faster. I would like to see at least a real 10Mbps throughput in the next version.
