but why not? since they said 2 per person. unless you are trying to trick them that it isn't

Because I've listened to too many people on boards complain that they sent in two rebates in one envelope and only one got posted with the second one just disappearing into rebate neverland. If both were on the same receipt, I might send them together, but there would be all kinds of Woo Hoo! Look here! Two rebates together! notations included.

I called the RS rebate center and was told to send the two rebates in two envelopes. Better safe than sorry.

Somehow, from reading the rebate forms, I got the idea that they wanted them sent separately. So, I did.

I recall sending two rebates in the same envelope for software I picked-up at CUSA.

The instructions said to send them in the same envelope.
However, if sent separately, they had different addresses.
I only got one of the rebates redeemed.

I just picked-up Spam Catcher at CUSA on Memorial Day.
It's free after 2 rebates.

One rebate was in the box.
The other rebate was printed by the cash register.
They had different addresses.
However, the one from the register said that if multiple rebates were offered at the same time, they could all be sent together in the same envelope.

Screw that!
I sent them in separate envelopes to their respective addresses.
One rebate required originals and the other required copies

if they cant even tell that theres 2 rebate in one envelope, how the hell can they tell that you have more then 2 rebates?

They are all pretty good at knowing how many checks and for what amount are sent to each address.

I think Ritek has figured out what to do with the CDRs they produce that don't meet TDK's & Memorex's quality standards -- release them under the RiDATA name! Either that or I just got a bad batch.

I burned a few test discs on my Lite-On and checked them out in KProbe. Compared to a TDK-branded Ritek disc that I burned a few days ago, the RiDATA discs had roughly 20 times the number of C1 errors. In fact, the RiDATA discs had more C1 errors than any other CDR I've ever burned & tested with my Lite-On, easily surpassing even the dreaded CMC discs I burned over 2 years ago.

I'm not saying these won't play in your CD or DVD player, but I'd be wary of using them to store anything of value. I think I'm going to return the 2nd unopened spindle. I don't need 100 throwaway discs.

I'm curious if anyone else has done any quality testing of these discs.

Ritek media having more C1 errors than CMC media? That surely doesn't sound right.

Sadly, one thing that seems common to all Taiwanese media mfg'rs, is a seeming lack of overall QC. Sounds like you just got a bad batch. I got a bad batch of 650MB Ritek media last year. After about the 40min mark, the number of C1 errors rose significantly, and tended to have C2 errors somewhere past the 60min mark. I also had a number of discs from that spindle that had actual pin-holes in the top reflective layer, when held up to the light. Pretty bad stuff. I bought those, after having such good luck with a few spindles of Ritek-made Maxell media, that had as low or lower C1 error rates than my Fuji T-Y 80min media did. Go figure.

I bought my spindle today.

They have plenty left in San Francisco. I just hope I get my $15 rebate.

Has anyone else tested RiData discs for C1/C2 errors? I have found my TDK-branded RiTEK discs to be excellent (very low C1, zero C2), and although I don't need any more CD-Rs, wonder whether whatsthedealio did just get a bad batch or not.

Thanks Allisolm. Picked up 2 of these and sent in the rebates yesterday. The rebate forms were printed right on the receipt.

Smartburn says:
Disc Type = CDR
Material = Phthalocyanine
Lead In = 97:15:17
Lead Out = 79:59:70
Nominal Capacity = 702.82MB
Manufacturer Maybe = RiTEK Corporation

Jrichrds, I did a DVDInfoPro error test on 1 disc and it came up clean. If you know of a C1/C2 tester that will work on an NEC drive, let me know. KProbe and CDSpeed didn't work.

Thanks for the bump, Allisolm. I'll be heading there before work this afternoon. I keep getting free after rebate cdr's, and close to FAR burners, and keep upgrading friends ancient machines, including sticking in a burner and giving them a spindle, with a "don't worry about it, I got all that free after rebate." It gives me god status in these people's eyes, but sometimes I'd rather have $20 for helping them.

Anyone get a rebate status yet?
I sent in the rebate about 3 weeks ago and it's still not showing up on the system.

Me too, Dr. Pizza.
A friend of mine mentioned that she was out of CD-R.
I popped 2-50pk FAR spindles in a box and shipped them out to her the next day.
Now I've got to find a box to send her some FAR jewels.
I guess you help who you can.
What goes around, comes around.

Got in for 2 CD-R packs. Now for the rebates. Now I have to decide whether to send two rebates in one envelope or split each rebate in their own envelopes, since a few posts up says something about only 1 rebate qualified when 2 were sent in 1 envelope.

FYI. On the topic of rebates for these discs, I sent in two rebates, each in a separate envelop. I just checked on their status here and it shows that I will receive $30.

So it looks like sending them in separately will work.

ive noticed stand alone audio players seem to have trouble with these disks (and yes, I know how to author content properly) ... my car and home stereo both error with these disks on like 1 of every 5 times you insert a disk .... and they make sooooooo much noise when being read .... work fricking great in a pc tho...

My experience with ridata cdrs is that the quality does vary greatly between batches. I bought several spindles from officemax a few months ago. Some batches were great - C1 error numbers on par with Taiyo Yuden disks, while other batches had much higher C1 errors and even C2 errors.

I bought the Radio shack ones as well. The first spindle I had was garbage. My burner would hangup near the end of the disk, making all kinds of strange noises. Sure enough, those disks had massive amounts of C2 errors near the end of the disk. They were basically unreadable. I exchanged that spindle. The replacement spindle has been awesome - the C1 error numbers are even lower that the Taiyo Yuden disks I usually use.

I've read similar comments about ritek DVDs as well, that the quality varies with different batches. I guess its hit or miss with this brand.

Mine took 3 weeks to show up. Yours should show up soon. I sent them in separately, by the way.
