Free "America's army" game based on UT2k3 engine from US ARMY

The Real Deal is going to be when this game is mirrored on other sites, so that I dont have to give Army Recruiters a personal invitation to call me 24/7. Once they hear you are at all interested in joining, they do not stop hounding you. It's great if you are looking to enlist. I'll wait until someone else has this available to download. Finally a legtimate use for Kazaa .exe file sharing.

As far as the recruiters go, I noticed once I told one that my dad and uncle were both LTC's and that I would be an officer if I decided to join they all of a sudden stopped calling. If you are getting hounded it is at least worth a shot.

The Unreal 2003 engine is an updated version of the UT engine. Definately much better and very different. I believe it's two version numbers above the old UT engine.

yes, actually the name for the engine is the Unreal Warfare engine. AA is using this, which is the same engine as UT2003. Funny how we'll probably get AA before the UT2003 demo!

According to an article in today's newspaper "the July 4 release is a scaled-down version of the Operations half of the game. Players will be able to undergo basic training and fight in 10 multiplayer missions. More missions will be released until the full release of the game (this fall). The other half of the game, called Soldier, involves role playing similar to the Sims. Players pick one of about 20 Army careers and learn new skills in order to try to earn the rank of sergeant."

How did u get post tramatic stress disorder from the war in iraq?? Did you actually see american's die? Out of like 30,000 troops we had only a little over 100 casulties, most of which was from friendly fire. Is that what happened to you? Did you accidently kill a friendly? Since you brought it up you sparked my curiousity

This (abcbooze) is obviously someone that knows absolutely nothing about ptsd. Sometimes it's better to just keep your mouth shut before mouthing off. Do you actually think you have to see friendlies die to get this? Maybe you need to do some research. I'll even post you a link and you can show me where you have to see friendlies die.

Okay...gamespot says this game is two parts:

America's Army: Soldiers and
America's Army: Operations.

So far, all the download links have pointed to the "Operations" side of things, which is the online multiplayer which everybody is excited about.

Whatever happened to the single player, or am I totally reading between the lines and assuming there's a single player?

It's actually pretty fun...seems very realistic. I especially like when you bring up the zoom feature, you can actually see the gun come up to your cheek...and then you have to adjust for your soldier's breathing. I'm still having trouble learning the controls, but I think I'll get it okay.

I'm running this on my Athlon XP 1700+, 512MB DDR, & a 32MB GeForce 2MX at 1024x768...it looks great, runs smoothly. I'm very surprised at its gameplay so far.

Hmm. First impressions:

The system requirements are pretty high for this game (my new comp is still missing a mobo and a cpu...) and it just looks fugly at the lowest settings... The Gamespy arcade service is now, imo, perhaps the worst online gaming service I have ever accessed. That said, the idea of having around 6 MOUT servers (that you are required to complete) and the fact that even though my team won 7 straight rounds, I did not graduate because my score was too low (8 points because my teammates were getting to the objectives quicker. Scored 32 the previous game on the LOSING side, meaning I don't get anything) means that players such as I must play AGAIN to get to any REAL action. That said, this game was very poorly thought out, the realism just isn't there, because when I finally graduated, the game felt more UT than CS. And besides, moving sluggishly, it wasn't very fun. The audio is poor at best. So, *hits the uninstall button* back to CS.
