CWShredder is outdated now, and Spysweeper detects everything that CWShredder was identifying. Also, if you run Spysweeper it will pick up a lot of programs/traces that AdAware & Spybot has missed. I've been cleaning 20+ pc's a week now using the combination of Spysweeper 3.0, AdAware SE 1.03, Spybot 1.3, and HijackThis 1.98.2. All of my customers have been extremely pleased with the end result.

New version of Ad-Aware (1.03)...nd Edition) available.

Supposed to be much more thorough on scans!

thanks for the headsup, I just upgraded from 6.whatever to the version you mentioned, and it found almost 20 more spyware files than it usually does (like the usual cookies or whatever from a website I visit frequently)

I upgraded to this version of ad-aware 2 weeks ago, and have tested the heck outta it.
It ROCKS, catches Everything, and at LEAST, 10 times FASTER than the old Ver 6, which set the standard for everyone else.
and also catches more types of Junk

Hint, don't bother to remove the incidentals...they do nothing, and they have always been there, just NOW you can see them, if you want.

Direct link to new Ad-Aware at cnet.com

Good thread, thanks for the info. Did a scan with the most updated AdAware 6, then updated to Adaware SE 1.03, scan found 50 more objects.

The Computer Associates EZTrust software as posted by "papaschtroumpf" above uses few resources and is the best for online gamers. That link provides a free year of updates and to continue updates I think is $9.95 a year.

I didn't say it can improve your online gaming. I said it uses the fewest resources which means the best performance for online gamers.

Many thanks to Schadenfroh for compiling his detailed list over in the AT:S&A forums. The AT:HD posters should check out the other forums that don't generate as much traffic simply for such inciteful posts as that one. Also, thanks to YellowFiero for bringing it around to Hot Deals where every person who builds or repairs PCs should use each one of these programs, as they represent fine examples of how to keep a PC operating at peak efficiency.
