Nice... I hope this one actually arrives! The last time I tried to get a free USB token from another vendor on Hot Deals, it never arrived

I just got mine in. It's only a 6 month demo. But, it is very cool. I've been using it to secure projects that I'm working on. Some of my friends and I also transfer stuff between the two of us. If anyone knows where I can actually buy one or two of these, please let me know. I have a feeling that at the end of 6 months I'm going to really want and need one.

The Authenex A-Key

The A-Key? is a house-key sized USB token that serves as the platform for the Authenex suite of strong (two-factor) e-security applications. It may be used for certificate storage (optional), but the unique benefit of the A-Key is its on-board CPU and its use of 128 bit .AES (Advance Encryption Standard) to communicate directly with the various e-security applications available through Authenex.

Features and Benefits

Secure Design - The chip-based chip aboard the A-Key is hacker proof and will fail if removed from the board.
Non-Duplicable - An assigned Electronic Serial Number and a randomly (or administratively) generated 4096-bit shared secret ensure that each key is unique.

Safe and Easy to Use - The user's password is never transmitted over the network or recorded in a central depository. The transition for users is simple - as it is just like using and ATM card at your local bank.

PKI-Ready - The A-Key carries a 15KiloByte (KB) password-activated memory area that can be used for securely storing private keys and certificates.

Yeah, same here. I got an e-mail from the vendor saying that they couldn't send them out because of too many requests. That ticked me off because it means that hundreds of people who only signed up to get something free and had no intention of using it (read: 99% of the people here and at FW) ruined it for the few of us who were actually in need of evaluating a product like this.

Sounds cool, but what I want is something that stores passwords, this doesn't seem to really be intended for that. I guess I'll keep looking

Didn't get my last one...odd.

I need something I can work on and implement so that it will need a key to log into Windows.

Well, if you dont mind using a floppy....I know this works under Windows 2000, but im not sure about XP.

Open the run box, type in SYSKEY. Screen should pop up. Choose update. Store the key onto the disk. You will now need this key to get windows started. More specifically, you will need this key BEFORE the login screen even pops up.

I actually purchased this whole setup from them. haven't set it up yet tho. like 25 keys, Server software etc.

it's a step up from IPSEC. great for securing Terminal Services or Remote Desktop access.

but you can do this with ANY usb storage, yes?

also, does this work for remote access?? authenex really is at its best when using a remote pc to access a Terminal Services Server or Remote Desktop.

Syskey encrypts a local system for local access, will it work for remote?
