I don't mind people offering links in the Hot Deals Forum to religious writings of other faiths, so long as they are conducive to good Christian morality like God intended.

HOWEVER, I do find it offensive that people are treating this infamous ancient Hindu manual of sexual knowledge as though it were religious. "The Elephant"! - what kind of position is that! I don't think it's right. I heard one of the women at the last garden party talking about trying out practices advocated by the Bhagavad-Gita with her husband. She said there were illustrations and everything! I told her she should wash her mind out with soap!

The Kamasutra is what you and your friend are referring to and not the Bhagvad-Gita.

there is no refrence to sexual positions at all in the Gita. You're probably thinking of the Kama Sutra

Y'all need to reread Tristram's post. Then, if you still don't get it, go down to the store and ask to buy a sense of humor.

Gita is all advice for life...no sex stuff

It's a good read...though very deep for a happy go lucky person like me

... the text from which Robert Oppenheimer quoted:

"On July 16, 1945, a nuclear explosion shattered the quiet dawn of the New Mexico desert. The first atomic mushroom cloud rose thousands of feet above the desert floor. After viewing the horrific explosion, Robert Oppenheimer, the leader of the Manhattan Project, recalled the words of the Bhagavad Gita, 'I have become death, the slayer of worlds.'"

I'd have to go with "Easily Amused."
Feeling a bit antagonistic, are we? This post is obviously poking fun at the fact that the religious deals were banned for a bit, and I personally thought it was hilarious. Get a sense of humor you shissy.

Bwahahaha is obviously telling me that religiousdeals were banned for a bit is it? That's a lot of communication for such a limited communication. No doubt you have a word for 'here pull my finger'
which will obviously communicate that type of clear and lucid communication.

Not feeling antagonistic, just don't like *bullshit* and peurile actions.

I't funny when you poke fun at others but not funny when others poke fun at you, right?

Bwahaha - Autism at it's best..... keep em coming.

just when I thought I'd read the stupidest post on earth, this one comes along. First of all, as others have said, you have gotten the Kama Sutra and Bhagavad Gita confused. The Kama Sutra is NOT a religous text, it is basically the equivalent to the "joy of sex" except it was written in medieval India. No Hindu considers it to have any religious significance.

The Bhagavad Gita teaches lessons on morality, justice, and righteousness. It is completely universal and not once does it promote one faith over another.

Ignorance like yours is what causes people to get into religious flame wars...I'm not gonna start one here...but I seriously suggest you actually think before posting something like this again.

FYI, The Kama Sutra was written by a self proclaimed guru called Vatsayana. He recorded his experiences by voyeuring inside of a prostitute house and the compilation of these are what is known as the book called "The formula of the Sex God" a.k.a "Kama Sutra".
OTOH, completely orthogonal to Kama Sutra is Bhagavad Gita where Lord Krishna advises Arjuna to kill his own cousins in a battle who represent evil and Arjuna is on the good side. A classic mythological version of "Good Vs. Evil". We see that even today in contemporary classics like "Star Wars". In conclusion the meaning is that although evil is very powerful eventually the good always prevails!

Hope this helps! OK! Now where are my good-hot deals???

I've heard different things about the Kama Sutra...one legend was that it was written by a virgin woman who was "divinely inspired". Needless to say, nobody views it as a religious text. As for the Bhagavad Gita...its much more than a classic mythological story...you're thinking of the Mahabharatha epic...the BhavadGita happens during the Mahabharata...but its more philosophical than the epic.

Was that Gilda Radner's character from SNL that would complain about something after she mistook it for something else?

I dunno, all I can remember is Rosanna-rosanna Danna.

More gratuitous religious content: THE ROSANNA-ROSANNA DANNA THANKSGIVING HYMN

We gather together
To ask the Lord's blessings
God bless the Rosanna-rosanna Danna famileeee

God bless my father
God bless my mother
But please don't make me sweat
Like Dr. Joyce Brothers

A classic SNL moment. And reverent too.
