Bythe way which version are you using of Win2k3 slycat? There were a few problems with the beta release. With the new evaluation code which is being sent by Microsoft the signature problem seems to be resolved.

Windows 2003 server Enterprise ed. Full , not beta. Anyone installed on win2003 full yet?

Getting ready to in the next week or so. Folks who have been running the beta say it's very good and very stable.

Anyone know if there is a means of downloading the daily virus updates, as one can do with Norton ? Or is one forced, with CA antivirus to stay accessible to CA's servers and receive updates more or less "automatically".
The daily download is better for those I know who do not maintain net access all the time or might have units with slower speed connections or would wish to download the antivirus updates manually during "off hours" time.
I can see that this program, which installed comfortably into my Win2K, does request access through softare firewalls.

Thanks, slycat. 'Helpful reference.
As I have just started using the product, do you or anyone else know if CA updates these virus definition files daily, or several times a week as does Symantec with Norton ?
I do note the "up to date" / today?s date on the FTP site, and that is a good thing.

I have one installation of Win 2K that has a definite problem with the ?scripts? function within Norton AV ? all other installations do just fine with Norton AV, but I would like to substitute this program for the Norton AV, on this one Win2K installation, if this CA program will be as or more workable.

CA is a very respected company. I don?t have any of the reports or ratings on this specific CA anti virus, but if it is as good or better than Norton, and is updated efficiently, then I am a happy camper.

Responses welcomed.

This is rather cool. I am, myself, interested in feedback and opinions on whether this is as good or better than Norton AV ?

Actually, CA goes to lenghts to state that its program has a much smaller footprint and the llike.
My interest is in its reliability and effectiveness, versus Norton.

Thanks, I wouldn't have expected to see Panda with a FAIL. And only one OS.
So one could assume that particularly since this is a server oriented AV (the CA eTrust) that is should be as good or better than Norton ?

One thing i notice is that eTrust would not tell you when they removed a infected file. So i guess you will never know which one is infected if you just extracted something from a zip or something. I tried the look around the settings but i couldn't make it show what its deleted, has anyone try to enable it?

I have only done 2 system wide scans, (on 2 different computers) but I note that on the bottom of the "pane" - there are the specifics as to which files were unable to be opened, and which were infected and cured and which could not be "cured" and thus were returned, etc.

Thanks a bunch, ahanafi. Last time I tried to install Norton SystemWorks on Win2k Server, it said "nogo on server."

Thanks! I've been impressed by how well this works. It sure beats the hell out of Norton 2002 that I was using previously... I don't even notice this running on my system
