He looked at me for a second and said we do not price match candy. I asked him where it said that in there price match policy so he ran to back of the store and came back like 15-20 minutes later with another manager and a print out from there computer. In the printed price match policy they showed me a line that stated "they have the right to limit quantities." And he would only price match 1 candy bar for me. So i said 1 of each kind of Hershey candy bar right? and he said no 1 candy bar. So i said fine does that mean i get 75 cents back + free candy bar? He said no he would give me 1 candy bar for free."

Wow what a fvcking loser. Anybody trying to pull this deal off is pathetic. You come in to my compusa with your savon ads and Ill happily show you the door.

Wow what a tool  So someone whose trying to get a good deal on something is "pathetic?" Perhaps you need to click on that little button that's labeled logout and then the little x in the top right corner of your browswer window.

What he meant by calling this guy a loser was that he was really a total asshole. He is trying to show how much smarter he is compared to everyone else. That type of arrogance deserves a beat down. Common sense would be nice.

How is the guy an asshole? Because he wants Crap-USA to honor their own policy?

So you know how they sell candy and pop at the register at every CompUSA? Well, read their pricematch policy available here:
CompUSA?s Retail Store Low Price Guarantee.
We'll beat any local retail competitor's advertised price on every product we sell by $1.00, either at the time of purchase or within the following 14 days. Our low price commitment covers all new, factory sealed products of the same brand and model number that are available, and in stock, at any local retail store.

So bring in an ad from the local Walgreens advertising Snickers bars for 60 cents each, or Coke bottles for a dollar. Have them pricematch it. You receive the satisfaction of getting free junk food and screwing over a large, evil corporation.

I would recommend bringing a copy of the policy, since you'll likely have to deal with an unhappy store manager.

This is bull$hit. As a former retail manager this kind of post upsets me. The price match guaranty is OBVIOUSLY not meant to apply to sub-$1 items like candy and soda. If some punk tries to exploit a loophole in the customer service policy (which is there as a gesture of goodwill and a benefit to the customers) I would have no problem showing him the door. Everybody wants something for nothing, why do you feel you're entitled to free candy or cokes? The store spends good money to stock those items.

yeah, I don't agree with this kind of candy soda pricematch. You save nano with this. You will save much less in the future if they change their pricematch policy just because of this stupid pricematch.

it's funny some of these guys take this so seriously.. as if compusa was going to take out that pricematch money out of their pocket.
1) we all know compusa will not suffer because of this
2) we all know that only like 10 people will try this
3) if i worked at a store and somebody came in for a deal like that, i'd give it to them with a smile and probably go with them to the back of the store smoke and eat me some chocolate.

I read through the entire thread and got a pretty good laugh out of it. Especially the story at the bottom of page 8, and how people are thinking of having their kids go up to the register and getting candy and PM'ing. lol

So serious! Comp USA does not have a price match policy to take care of the customer, they have one because all of the other stores that they compete with have one. And most other stores will do 10% below their competitors price. CompUSA is so greedy that they will only do $1 below their competitor's prices. Pare that with their restocking fees and generally bad return policies, and well, they deserve what they get. This is not going to put them out of business, but it is certainly a bit of poetic justice. They should honor their policy, they created it after all. 10% of a chocolate bar is not bad, but 1$ off of one is certainly bad. They should have taken that into consideration when they decided to make their PM policy more stringent than everyone else's. I have no sympathy for CompUSA after I had a job interview there and the manager interviewing me interviewed me outside in freezing weather while he smoked a cigarette. I was wearing a suit with a skirt, and I froze for 30 minutes while he told me how seriously they take their jobs. I wrote a big letter to corporate, and I got no response. They didn't care about me when I needed a job, they don't care about their customers when they need to return things, or when they wish to use the PM policy, so why should their customers care that their policy backfired on them and now they will have to do 10% like everybody else? Go get your chocolate, get lots of it, and enjoy it every bit as much as they enjoy saving their 10% on all PM's.

Kudos!

Personally, I would never bother with the effort required for this deal, but...

the customer service policy (pricematching) is NOT there for the benefit of the customers. On 90+% of pricematches, CUSA still makes a clear profit -- and that is why they pricematch. The real purpose of a "pricematch policy" is to lead the consumers into believing that their prices are the lowest, so that they will just be lazy and take it on faith that they're getting the best deal, even when clearly they're not.

Gesture of goodwill? A benefit to the customers? Don't make me laugh. CUSA designed their price match policy to protect their profits. That's it. While most other places have a 110% PM guarantee, CUSA will only beat the competitors price by $1. That is done to minimize their losses. They don't give a rats ass about the customer.

I can't believe how seriously some people take their jobs and positions. These companies will try to screw over their own employees whichever way they can, yet the employees will try to defend/protect the company and its interests as much as they can, almost as if they owned the company. Makes me laugh. As other people have stated, you're just a tool.

Besies, I doubt many people will waste their time trying to do this, though if I ever go there I may try this just for kicks.

Agreed. Back in September when I desperately needed a computer (didn't have time to order the parts and build one) I walked out to the local Compusa to pricematch a Media Center edition pc that they had onsale. Compusa was selling it for I think $950 and Fry's was selling it for $899. I called a Compusa sales rep over the phone and him if he would pricematch Fry's. He said no problem, and he would even throw in a pc essentials kit (scanner, printer, etc). Went there, and the guy I had talked to on the phone left. The guy who left had already picked out my items and had them sitting on a cart behind the counter. Stupid "Sales Manager" would not honor the price since he claimed that Fry's did not have any in stock.

I got upset and left; drove to Fry's and picked up the last one. Call the "Sales Manager" back when I got home, and told him that I had just bought the last one at Fry's. Didn't believe, but I told him that I'd be happy to bring the product over along with the receipt and show him. I was in such a hurry that I didn't bring the computer and receipt there to show him, but trust me I would have if I had more time that day.

So, I also let him know that I'd be compaining to his superior's about his poor service regarding the PM policy. He said that he didn't have a problem with it (now I know why, these guys are a bunch of crooks). I contacted the store manager, left a message, requesting a phone call back on the incident. To this day, I have yet to receive a phone call from the store manager and I try to avoid Compusa whenever possible.

I would do this? Why wouldn't you...it's stated in their own price match policy. This forums is FATWALLET. If CompUSA didn't want ppl doing this, they shouldn't be selling Candy and Soda in a Electronic Store, or charging 1 dollar for a candy bar when the Walgreens next door has it for 25 cents. Where's the crime in doing this?

At this forum we rank "hot deals" by how much we save. $250 for a $300 video card....well nothign beats a free candy bar. And those who are judging others....well you are the really pathetic ones. And the guy who works at Savons, get a life..you work at the store, you don't own it.

For those of you who are are retarded in the basic concepts of economics, "Why do something if it isn't beneficial to your business?" Yeah, they might lose $1 because of the policy, but for every dollar they lose for a candy bar then make $10 off some other product. Retail stores don't lose money, they only make money. You ever see Bestbuy, CompUSA, Circuitcity have quarterly or yearly loses? NO! It just depends on how much profit they want to make and how much money they milk from their customers. CompUSA has buy far the worst customer policies...return within 14 days, 15% restock on everything open.

your forgetting that the people who do this are far more rude than most customers...and they have no self respect....and just dont have anything better to do
