nice allisolm...will you marry me?

I'm honored by the request, but my husband says no - unless, of course, you make enough money to support me in the style to which I'd like to become accustomed - in which case he'd think about being my boy toy.

ROTFLMAO ! ! ! ! !

Allisolm, you kill me....

Is there *ANYWHERE* you WON'T search for "a deal".....

Now the true question, is whether she's really a 'red-head'

Just a heads up for people who is going to buy the philips' 40X cdr. I had problems with burning it at 24X in my laptop's 24Xcombo drive. It will only burn at 10X. My Fugi, which is rated at 16X will burn at 24X no problem. I think its the dye colors. Fugi is a darker green then the Philips.

Otherwise if you burn with cendynes, sonys and what not, the philip will do fine. As usual not every drives out there will be able to read these disc without any problems.

Thanks for the hot deal.

I was thinking of picking up for FujiFilm CDR but my 2 previous rebates haven't been paid yet (one from Best Buy and the other Circuit City). Anyone having trouble with these rebates?

Picked up a 50-pack of the philips from CrapUsa. I was worried about the rebate going to TCA Rebates in New Rochelle, NY because they have screwed too many rebates and I will never buy a product that has a rebate going to them. Well, the cdrs rebate goes to Medina, OH. It looks like Philips is now handling all of their own rebates.

Link to Rebate

www.pcerebates.com - Should I be scared that the link gives an error!

Thanks! I've been hunting for CD-R's all week with my supply dwindling from 50 to 20 to 10 back to 210 thanks to you I was out a couple times last week trying to find a Sears with those HP and then I went to Staples and it just closed and then I went to CompUSA and they had some CD-R's for 20 bucks - 18 rebate but that was CompUSA and well, 18 bucks! That's a lot to put in only 50 pack CD-R's so I went to Best Buy and the customer service guy who helped me laughed when I said I wanted to buy CD-R's for less than 10 bucks. He obviously hasn't heard of AnandTech

Not really a hot deal, but my local Circuit City has a large display of 50 packs of CDRs with the name AudioBahn on them. I don't recall the price, but think it was in the range of $18.00 or so. I guess I just found it kind of funny because AudioBahn is a big manufacturer of audio components for automobiles and the CDRs with their name on got a laugh out of me.

The only worth deal here is a 100pack of Fuji's for 7.99... They are from TY so quality assured, less that 10 cents per quality CD, excellent deal... Too bad I already picked them a month ago for the same price and same rebate so they probably won't honor second rebate...

As for other deals - guys beware, Imation sucks ass, they are CMCs, I bought a 100 pack once - terrible reading graphs after 60 minutes and up... And you also have to be careful with Philips because it often uses Ritek as media, which is no better than CMC... Khypermedia... - I don't even know what the heck this is, but I doubt very much they are quality CDR's...

Thanks allisolm!! I was wondering why you hadn't posted this deal last night...

Just picked up the 50 pack Philips from CompUSA. Note that on the website it seems that there are two different products/rebates, one for 40X and the other for 48X but you can only go for either one. (it says so on the rebate form)

The Khypermedia cds are CMC's. Well my cd-rw's from them are and I have had several fail so avoid Khypermedia if you can. There cds just are not worth the effort..

Isn't the only rebate online for the Philips the one for the 48X (SKU 296493, Philips part D48N600 )? There is a link to the same rebate form for both SKUs I think. The form has a picture of the 40X label but specifies only the part number for the 48X (the 40X part number is CD80R556 ). Are the forms in the store different? I don't think I have seen this Ohio rebate place before.

What about the Maxells? I would pick up the Fuji's but I'm running a 32x burner and don't want to cripple it down to 24x.

Any experience with Maxells?

Stumbled on the deal at the local B&M. They have the rebate there. Now it's EVEN BETTER, they have MEMOREX 50 pack Slim Jewel Cases for FREE AR too! So I got 50 CDR's with jewel cases for a net of about $2 after tax and postage (to mail in the rebates). Nice deal.

I picked up the Imation combo deal at Office Max (on Saturday, thanks to the "Sneak Preview" list), and the CD's I got are marked 40X. The sales clerk rang up the whole combo at $9.99, so I don't have to wait for any MIR this time. (I suppose I could get the rebate form and send it in, to make this $4.99. Hmmm...)

Don't know about the Maxells, but the Fujis I just picked up at my local Bestbuy were labeled 48x. They also have made in Japan on them as well. Does this mean they are Tayo Yudens? Have had good luck with the Fujis whether they are Tayo Yuden or whatever. Haven't had any problem running them at 32X, at least regardless of their "posted" limit.

Haven't really had much experience with Maxell, I once bought 20 pack of them, about 2 or 4 failed to read after a month, since then I try to stay away from Maxell...

And about Fuji's, just like novice the Fuji's I bought were marked at 48x, so go to your local BB and check it out... In any case if I were you I would rather buy quality CDRs, even if I had to burn them with lesser speed than buy something with questionable quality, because quality is all that matters. I have about 150 burned CMC's CDRs (the ones that have trouble reading after 60 minutes) and now I'm really starting to worry about their reliability, what if they fail to read after a year or so..? That would be terrible...

Does this mean they are Tayo Yudens?
Yes, both Fuji and Memorex that are made in Japan use TY as media, which means quality guaranteed. If you want quality CDR's you can also try Verbatium DataLifePlus (not just DataLife and not ValueLife, but DataLifePlus) that are made in Taiwan, they are on par with TY, maybe even better, but they are never on sale, so given the circumstances TY's are the best.
