It's NOT all simplified... read the FAQ. It goes into detail about how they make "four-sided" cards (cards folded in half, basically). So, there's the English, the Pinyin, simplified, and traditional characters. Nice deal. I tried making my own cards, and I fell behind after the first few hundred cards.
We used Practical Chinese Reader (PCR) vols. 1 & 2. They're selling the two sets (1319 characters) for $25... I guess I'd pay that to save the trouble of making my own cards... and then $5 for shipping. Hm? It's a little pricey for cards, but I suppose I'd pay it. I imagine that they are all single character cards, so multi-character words might get skipped. I guess I'd call to ask them about that.
I signed up for the sample cards. I think it took me to a page that said they'd send me
12 cards... or maybe I just made that up because I can't find it on the Web page now.
They say they'll sell a set of the 2000 most common words soon. I think that'd be useful... seeing as how I don't see myself using words like "comrad", and how the vocabulary/dialog in the PCR books is sometimes a little dated.
By the way, if anyone is using the PCR books and just beginning into Chinese, I think that the book .
A Practical Chinese Grammar by Cheung is extremely helpful. It folows the PCR books chapter by chapter and gives an actual explanation of the grammar and decent examples that the PCR series lacks. I could only find it in simplified form, though.
