Free Coffee at work starts Monday! Update: Not this Monday

It's still a secret, only the Execs, Directors, Cafeteria people and my department know. They really want this to be a suprise.

Everyone will come into work on Monday and find a company-branded coffee mug on their desk at every location (around 2000-3000 employees) Coffee stations on every floor, which will save me a few $$ every day. One of my co-workers chose and ordered the mugs, that's how I know - I had to figure it out by overhearing conversations in the cube next to me!

And since this is a big suprise, I won't say what company until afterwards. I'm sure there's a few IT people on Anandtech.

UPDATE: Just found out that they're not doing this for a month. I'd overheard "Monday" and it sounded like this Monday - apparantly it's a Monday a few weeks away. Oh well.

And free tea is actually part of the deal, no water or soft drinks though.

I think free coffee is a great idea. But let me predict what will happen.

The tea drinkers will complain, and therefore hot tea will quickly be offered as well. Then the bottled-water crowd will want bottled water too.

I think they're trying to stop people from going to the cafeteria, getting a coffee and taking breaks down there. The stations will be closer to everyone's desks so there's more chance they'll go back and work.

I agree with Kranky, someone who isn't a coffee drinker will complain and ruin it.

I make all of my coffee at home (mostly espresso), and although I do pay for it I'm certain it's better than what can be had anywhere else.

Hopefully they'll give you good coffee, and not some canned nonsense.

The regular coffee here is fine, I think they'll still offer the premium stuff for sale in the cafeteria.

Good point about the tea and water people complaining, although I think a lot of places don't do free tea, bottled water or soft drinks is because it's easily abused. Grabbing a few for home is too easy.

We have one of those machines - it's not brilliant, but drinkable.

no free coffee here...gotta get it down at the coffee shop downstairs which is expensive...for just normal coffee a large is like $1.50

We have free coffee, tea, poland springs water. If you want starbucks, you have to pay. Everything else can be found for free if you are lucky and there are leftovers from meetings. Every meeting has food.

They take good care of us at my office.

Free coffee, sodas and purified water every day. Free donuts, bagels and biscuits on Fridays. And free popcorn (from a movie theater popcorn machine, not just microwaved stuff) whenever you want it. In addition to the free office supplies ( :evil: ) I can't complain.
