I am interested in varying philosophies, and don't have a copy of this yet... I figured that just like Christian missions, the definitive text would be made available free from somewhere/someone

Anandtech really needs another forum category labeled "My religion is better than yours" and the OP's post would be more appropriate there. You can also get free reading material from the Catholics, Mormons, Jehovas, Jews, etc., etc.....if you care to take a visit to one of their establishments. So, really not a very hot deal at all. What was the real reason you posted here OP? To raise ire?

The way I read the OP, there's no ulterior motive here... it's a free look at an important part of a culture that's not my own. Sadly, within the first few posts someone takes the opportunity to get bent and defend his right to close-mindedness.

The posting of religious hot deals is not a problem. Unfortunately, the idiotic comments that follow usually result in the locking of the threads. edit: See posts by figfiddle and smurfmods for prime examples.

Seriously though, it might be good to read this to find out what the faith is all about. Fastest growing religion right? The whole world may be muslims some day. :disgust: Of course with all the terrorist baby killing and innocent people dying that may slow adoption a little bit. Ends justify the means? I really don't understand a philosophy that condones killing whoever it takes to convert people. Most of the terrorist bombings kill their own faith. Stupid. If a christain bombed a mosque full of women and children would that make a muslim more apt to want to be christain??

maybe u need a copy of this more than you think. i have never read the quran, nor have i read the bible, but when i get time i would like to. you obviously haven't read the quran, and are speaking out of ignorance, why not read it and see if you were right or wrong instead of going on account of other ignorami?

I really don't know what's in the Qur'an since I've never read it, but there are many objectionable contents in the holy books of most religions. Catholicism and Christianity are not excluded. 99.9% of Muslims are peaceful, decent people.

On the other hand, some christains take the faith too far too. Examples are cults and snake handling preachers. Killing abortion doctors...


You can't take the bible litterally word for word just like you shouldn't take the Kuran word for word. It should be a guide for your life. An overall philosophy. I don't have anything against muslims that follow the faith with tolerance and peace in their hearts. That's really what the Kuran teaches. Not killing your neighbor because he has a cross on the door. Or he happens to like watching Britney Spears videos with the tv on mute. (ME)

P.S. Can we move this thread? It's not a hot deal.
