This is exactly what I use mine for. What a great free toy! I've had it for a long time, but only recently found a way to make it dump UPC scans into other programs, rather than just taking me to the website for the product I scanned. I'm using software called CatNip, can't remember where I downloaded it from, though - sorry.

At least this one they mail it to you. Of couse you have to put up with more junk mail, but that's what those hotmail accounts are for.

I used to grab a handful of them everytime I went by a radio shack.
I threw them all out a few months ago, I just couldn't think of anyhting useful to do with them.

The long awaited USB CueCats are available at some Radio Shacks. We'd been waiting for one to use on our laptop, easier to drag into our library. And if dig around the CueCat site, I was told you can find the special hidden link to get one for free direct from CueCat. I haven't looked.

Anybody have any info?

I work at Radio Shack and we can't give these things away. Half the time they don't work correctly. They are good for cataloging cds and DVDs though. And they are free so what do you have to lose? Go to your local Radio Shack and grab one for free.

Do you really have that many DVD's? I have about 100 and they're all "cataloged" on a shelf. I just look at the titles on the spine when I'm looking for something

Anyway, ZDNet rated the Cuecat one of the top 10 most worthless gadgets of 2001...and with good reason.

Picked a Cat up at my local RS on the way home from work.

Also picked up one of their PS/2 to USB adapters at the same time.

Didn't notice that the Cat I got there is already USB.

Ah well, another trip tomorrow for the return...
