I took advantage of this a few months ago. I believe a number of employees posted both here and on FatWallet with the necessary details. Fine deal... hated my cable company.

I just did this deal about a week ago. And I just wanted to say how GREAT and nice the sales people on the other end of the phone were.

I wanted the Para Todos System with the multisattelite capability but didn't want the spanish channels. The guy needed to override the dual LNB single sattelite dish order to get the other one and his manager just popped in the code without even blinking. So we are getting the 4 line (2 X dual LNB) 18x24" satellite dish with a receiver for 24.95 shipping and handling. And when I talked to the guy I couldn't find my friends employee number so he just said, heck I will put mine in.

And it wasn't just this guy, because I called in about 5 times asking different questions and every time I got a hold of someone they were the nicest most helpful people I ever talked to. So I may have just got lucky, but I have heard stories about Dish Network's customer service and I think that Directv's customer service hands down beats them.

after 6 cancelations and 4 no shows, they haven't installed yet

It's not hard to install. Just do it yourself instead of wasting any more time with no-shows and cancellations.

what the advantage of the Para Todos System over the normal directTV receiver? and do they give u 2 receivers for this deal?

The tales I heard about the install are either great or horrible. Mine went fine... at sign-up time they suggested I let them install on a Saturday. The installer called to say he would be an hour late, then spent two hours hooking up receivers on opposite sides of the house.

About the only warning I would give is to ensure your rigs are near phone jacks. Otherwise, have an extension cable on-hand. In my family room, the TV was about 30 feet (around the walls) from the phone jack. As their 'free limit' is 20ft, the joker wanted to hit me up $30+ for a 10 foot longer run of phone cable. Told him 'nyet'.

Hey Pete! I can't believe what ya wrote. All those cancellations and no shows? Well, I'm a DirecTV employee. Contact me and I'll see if I can dig up a number for ya to call. Maybe we can see about expediting your installation. Of course, it'll have to wait until Monday for me to find that number for ya.
I suppose if anybody is interested, ya can email me and I'll supply ya with the info ya need for this deal.

Regarding the ? about changing your subscription package. After one month, if ya want, ya can change your subscription to a lower (or higher)priced one. If you want, you can even cancel your subscription. But so far, I don't know anybody who has done that.
The installers were pretty overwhelmed the past couple of months. So there were some serious delays in setting installation appointments. Hopefully, this should be straightened out now. I highly recommend that you call the number on the Site with the deal a couple of days before the installation date to verify that the installers will be there.
Oh, and if ya order the para todos system, you will only get one receiver. Ya gotta cough up the extra $$$ for anymore receivers.
A couple of people who have ordered the system through me asked if the installers would install extra receivers even if they weren't ordered through this deal. Each installer is different. Some may do it with no problem. Others may want to charge ya extra for it. It all depends on the luck of the draw.

The horror stories of installs are indeed true. I spent at least 3 hours on the phone arguing with Customer Service Supervisors at least 6 times to get my free installation. It took them 4 missed appointments over 2 weeks from the first scheduled appointment to get the installer here. Yes, I could have easily installed it myself, but it was a matter of principle. (Not to mention the fact that installing a dish in the middle of winter in Minnesota is very unappealing!) Their customer service beyond their lip service absolutely sucks.

Does anyone know of a DirectTV employee? This is something I've been waiting a good while for (the cable company in these parts are horrible). If anyone can give any help, I'd be very very grateful!

They haven't called me to reschedule a new date.
Good luck with your 27 appointment.
I told them to schedulle on the same day of the wk for at least 4 wks, so if they don't show up, they could try again the following week.
Also every time they reschedulle ( 10x already ), they keep asking for the directions to get there. Don't they have computers? or write down the information?

I got US 60 credit for the non shows. Should be 80. 20 for each of the no shows.
60 credit but still no service to use the credit

pete777, only $60 in credit? They gave me $60 in credit AND 1 month of platinum pkge free and I still say it was a raw deal. I'd be ripping into them. Their free install isn't worth the pain of dealing with the dumbassed supervisors!
