I have a link for those do it yourselfers that hate the day labors that they hire to install these things. Had a friend that had one installed and the guy didn't even have a ladder. There are many other horror stories of these free installation offers. I personally do not like these yahoos messing with my house.

The deal I know of includes Receiver, HU, Dual LNB dish, Full installation kit for $4.95 delivered. There is a 3 month commitment.

FYI, you can sub locals only.

I am unsure of the rules here, so email me sat4fun@juno.com if you want the link.

Take care.

Just called Direct TV and ordered the $31.99 service and the rep said only 1 month contract and I can cancel anytime afterward and keep my equipment. I think it's better than Radio shack or Best Buy which you have a contract for a year of Total choice.

thanks.

Just a reminder on this deal
if you want an 18x24 dish you have to request this otherwise you get a single LNB and a round dish

Make sure to tell em you want an 18x24

the "I LIKE NINE" dish deal is the cheaper way to go if you're going to pay for your service

Little secret........You got 45 days under Family/Friends deal to activate.
I'm the one who had(still does)a big tree(s)in sattelite view.
I have not had $$$$$$$$$ nor time to get the tree cut,so I called to verify activation date explained my problem, rep said"You got 45 days under Family/Friends plan"Cool!
It is past 30 days, not billed.
So if ya got a problem like me..lolcall to verify it.
Long story short, the dish is nailed to a board that is nailed to the lower roof of house, satellite signal is zero........
I had to rig it up just to activate it,til I set things straight.

I was not thrilled with the installers who came either.
I think they wee too lazy & didn't want to work.
They said "Call back after tree was down"
I thought they might have drilled holes & set some things up(phone line etc),but they left.
Heard they don't get paid til they call & activate it though.
Now I've got to do it all,Oh well!

Was a good deal.

I bet Randy never knew he had so many friends.

If nothing else, it a good deal to get the eliptical dish.

Anyone know of any good deal on a 2nd receiver for current subcribers? This one (like most) says it's for new residential customers.

Anybody get two receivers? I just called and they told me if you want the second one for $49 you have to commit for one year. Otherwise, it's $99.

Guy didn't sound too swift.

Thanks

Just go my DTV receiver today. It's Samsung receiver not a RCA. This suck. I haven't received the Dish yet, maybe the installer will provide the disk.

Did the DTV equipment for this offer come with an HU smart card or no smart card at all? I have seen some of the newer DTV receivers with no HU card slot...I've heard it's built into the hardware of the system.

Charging $99 without commitment or $49 with 1 year commitment for a second receiver is pretty stupid since you can just sign up for the deal twice and have them install a second antenna and a receiver for $24.99(shipping), then pay $31.99 for the full month(I heard they will prorate if you cancel before the end of the month), cancell, and connect the new receiver to the old dish. So you get a brand new receiver for $56.98 without any commitments ...

I just got off the phone and for $26.69, I got the oval dish and one receiver with one month committment. If you don't want the free installation tell them you would like to call and schedule installation at a later date.

You can pick up a Sony B65 receiver as a second receiver for $49 at Circuit City. I believe that is Circuit City's regular price for that receiver.

<< Damn I forgot to ask for the 18x24 dish. I wonder if it's too late. >>

Hmm if I was to cancel this (which I plan to do) and go for the ILike9 promo (Dish), can I just change the receivers and use the current DirecTV dish? Or would I have to change that as well (would be a biatch getting up to the room)...I gotta order soon, the ILike9 promo ends at the end of the month...

V00DOO, is there anything wrong with getting the Samsung receiver? Does it really suck worse than the RCA? Also, does it have a serial port on the back for use with Tivo. Serial port isn't that important as I may switch to DirecTivo.

If you get the receiver from some place else, isn't it require to purchare the card from DirectV or else it doesn't work? and pay like $5/month for addition card?

To answer a few questions. Yes, the Samsung receiver is worser then RCA. It does come with a HU card with pic of Football players. I haven't receive the dish yet, maybe the installer will provide the dish. I think you can use the DTV dish for Dish network, but you will have to redirect the dish for Dish network signal. Correct me if I am wrong. I didn't notice a serial port on the Samsung receiver. I'll double check on that.

I received my equipment last friday. However, they mistakenly sent me the 18" Round dish and NOT the 18x24 ParaTodos system I requested. The Satellite they sent was a Dual LNB Model w/ NO Multiswitch. The Receiver was a Samsung model w/ an HU Card. It had NO SVHS port only a Telephone Jack, 3 RCA (L/R + Video), A Satellite In Coax, A TV Out Coax, and an Antennae In Coax port.

I called them up that day and told them I received the wrong Dish . I explained that I had specifically asked for the Para Todos Sysyem. They were very cooperative and said they would send me the ParaTodos System and pick up the existing Dish. I asked if the Receiver was wrong also, (it doesn't say "PLUS" on it), so, the rep said they would send out a new receiver as well.

FedEx picked up the first shipment of items yesterday and delivered the 18x24 Dish. The new Dish has a 4x4 MultiSwitch on it (so I can hook up to 4 receivers vs 2 on the other dish). I noticed that there is a spot in the middle of the 2 Dual LNB's for a 3rd LNB... I guess at some point there might be a 3rd satellite up there?

I don't have the new receiver yet, but, I expect it'll be more advanced than the Samsung they first sent. I'm supposed to have delivered the new receiver today or tomorrow and installation is set for Friday.

Bottom Line, if you want the good stuff, be sure to ask for the Para Todos System. It's still the same price, you just get better hardware.

Please keep us updated on what hardware you receive dman6666, as I ordered the Para Todos system as well and hope I receive the same dish and hopefully a better receiver than the Samsung.

Does anyone know of a website that has forums for DirecTV users?
