Thanks OP.
Yeah, that's the way mine was until I had to stop using it as a urinal.
Darn kids are always leaving the sink full of dirty dishes rather than putting 'em in the dishwasher!

I'm very curious as to what the active ingredients are. I bet it's some combination of sodium percarbonate (the primary active ingredient in the oxygen cleaner products like Oxyclean). Suspect you could do about as well using a combination of an oxygen cleaner & a grease cutter (like dawn grease liquid detergent) or even a combination of hydrogen peroxide and a grease cutter.

Just be careful what you mix: some combo's (like percarbonate or peroxide & TSP) produce a poisinous gas .

TSP?

I think there's an animal in mine! I got something stuck in there, so I stuck my hand down there to try to get it out, but couldn't see. So I turned on the light switch by the sink, and the animal started going RAWNRAWNRAWNRAWNRAWN...!!!!!! and nearly took my FINGERS OFF!!!!

Will this stuff kill that thing???

We put everything down the disposal except banana skins and bones, and with a newer disposal I understand bones are now ok too.

Smells bad when dishes stack up and block the opening, but move the dishes and cram everything down, cycle it and run a load of dishes in the dishwasher which drains to the disposal and all is just fine.

Onion skins when done in a BATCH have clogged the trap a couple times, but while its nasty, rubber gloves and ten minutes and its clear again.
