I don't really have an opinion, it just looked like everyone else was posting to this thread, and I didn't want to be left out, so here goes:
I don't like racing (I drive a Rav 4, so it's not like I'm jockeying for spots on the entrance ramp on the way to work.)
I didn't care much for Dale Ernhardt.
I don't like sports much anyway except for the great world of Canadian Curling.
It's too bad he died, but it's more annoying that I sat around for 20 minutes watching to watch them show the replay on Fox News, and it was such a 'blah' crash. I mean, if you're going to die in a nationally televised sporting event, wouldn't you rather it be something that people "oooh" and "ahhh" over when they see it? I bet if he had to do over again...well, he wouldn't have died, but that's besides the point I suppose.
I have a great respect for the guys who drive the cars, but it's still a boring sport until someone flips a car or does something that breaks up the monotany (sp?) of 5 dozen cars driving around in a circle. You can deny it, but we both know the only thing exciting about the sport are the crashes, and while it's bad for someone to die, it's still a part of excitement of what makes racing the popular sport it is.
That is all.
