Well I for one don't enjoy watching guys drive around in cricles making left hand turns.. doesnt seem like much of a so-called sport to me.

I think racing is a waste of gas, I mean a bunch of cars driving in circles..... I wouldn't even consider it a sport....

I think this illustrates the whole point. Why should someone, who drives cars in circles, get more respect than other people? I mean people die EVERY DAY and i don't think driving around in circels is something that makes you specical. Y'all say poor dale yada yada... He knew what he was doing and he got paid for it. Technically he commited suicide, by entering that race he accepted the fact he could die there. The only sad part about it is that he died to entertain bunch of people. At the end, nascar races are just entertainment for us.

You know, he knew the dangers of the sport he played. Death was a real possibility. Yes, it's sad he died, but in my opinion it was his own fault (as someone else stated, he was KNOWN for bumping other drivers). \

Uhhhh. . . and you have a point? Who cares who's fault it was, I feel for his family and frinds. Jr. had a great finish but now it will not be remebered except for his dad's death. Some folks here just don't have much compassion. :frown:

You're exactly right - this does illustrate the whole point!
The point that people like yourself should not be commenting on this topic!
If you knew anything about the guy, it wasn't just that he "drove around in circles"
that made him special - he was alot more than that. If you don't follow Nascar, you're not
gonna understand. I mean, everyone knows that the risk is very high each time they go out,
but I didn't know we had to blame someone for their death when it does happen. These guys have been doing this their entire lives, it's what they live & die for. You just hope it never happens!

But, if it does happen, why do people have to dump on him?
That's what I don't understand! Have a little respect!

przero - Great point!! - I'm not wrestling the pigs, I'm just feeding 'em!!

~~~Round 2~~~
We are not "dumping" on him, we are mearly stating that one mans death shouldn't seem like the end of the world. As far as hoping it never happens so far it has happened 4 times in the last 10 months, what kind of odds are those when you have around 35 drivers and 4 in 1 year die, thats almost 10% chance that you are going to die this year if you strap in to earn your money. is $41 million for 17 years worth you life, some say yes, I say Hell no. I settle for my $30,000+ a year to live and take my chances on dodging these crazy drivers here in TX. You might be saying, 4 drivers, big deal... if you say that then.... join us, Big Deal!
Thanks,
people are dumping on Dale. Even if they did, he's dead, so what does Dale care?
No, it seems alot of the critics in this thread are pointing out how silly it is that soemone is so emotionally attached to race car driver that they write songs mourning his death or post incessantly about how "wonderful" a man he was, despite not even knowing him. We do know he left two ex-wifes in the pit stop, and would appear at make-a-wish publicity shoots to hand an STP sticker to a child dying of some terrible disease.
Dudes, on the Day Dale Earnheardt died while drivign his car around in circles, 800,000 other people died on this planet. 800,000, Are you writing songs about them? I'm sure some of them were much nicer than Dale. Some probably died tragic, untimely deaths, too. Are you writing songs for them?
No, you're not. Because you suffer from celebrity worship. You love the man who drove his car around in circles because, well, he did it on TV, was good at it, and was on every other Coke vending machine at ever other gas station in this country.
Like I said in an earlier post. Celebrity worship is a weird and powerful thing. Just look at how torqued up some of the posters get on this topic.
Personally, I enjoy it cause it keeps me busy here at work and provides entertainment. In the immortal words of Russ Martin, Tom Leykis, and just about every other talk show host... "If you don't like it, don't listen" Most people look at the first thread and hit the link, if they read the rest that is their choice, just like it was Dale's choice to race his career.
Thanks,
I am wondering what some of these people said when Curt Cobain died. I was saddened at that loss because he was a great artist that was troubled by many demons. What did some of you say about his death? I want to hear from people that are mad about what people are saying about Dale's death.
I myself never really watch racing, that includes Nascar or Formula 1. However I knew Dale's name because he was a icon....The Michael Jordan of Nascar. He is one of those people that is so well known that even though you arent a fan you still know he is the best. I am saddened also by Nascar fans loss. Please though just ignore other peoples opinions if they are making fun of the death.
Laterz.
A few points:
1.) It is unfortunate that he was killed.
2.) This is NOT a Hot Deal. It belongs in Off Topic in one of the Dale Earnhardt threads. I would think an Elite member would know that one.
3.) He died from head injuries, and the ME's report said his skull was crushed from front to back. In all likelihood, his brain was mush, too, from impacting the front of the skull. Even with a head restraint, he would probably be brain dead or at least severely brain damaged.
4.) He was an excellent NASCAR driver, but I wouldn't rank him among the best of the world's racers. Put up against the likes of Alain Prost, Michael Shumacher, or Ayrton Senna, he would have had his doors blown off. They can make RIGHT turns.
5.) What I find terribly ironic about some NASCAR fans' reactions to this death is how hypocritical it is -- how many of them go to the races to see the crashes?
Have your family let me know when you die, so I can write a nice song about you!!
The only thing that gets me torqued-up in here is knowing that people like you exist in the world!!
BTW - To all the bungholes that had a problem with my smiley faces before, this is for you!
VH2000, nice front you're putting up here. Why from your previous posts, I would have suggested that you have severe problems in explaining yourself without calling someone an idiot or using other profanity. So you still think my posts are worthless and that I got my diamond membership via useless posts? I'm still waiting ... you don't cross the line and hide to pretend as if you have never said it. Why don't you reply and you can even use your smiley faces, sheesh.
Ranger X - Yes, as you noticed, when I get pissed I start dropping "F-bombs" and throwing names around. I've tried over and over to explain myself, then someone else makes another post that IMO is totally incorrect or that they seem to be talking oiut their asssss! So, yeah, I was a little on edge! I don't worship the guy, just trying to give him some respect. This thread was about a tribute song and has gone way off!
As far as your posts being "worthless" - NO!
I see people with thousands of post & I'm like "this dude must spend all day on the computer posting" - which really isn't true. PROPS! You have posted many deals & helpful posts! I will never hide from the things that I posted (except the one about the whor* that I changed - that was a bit harsh!).
Peace - Out!
Central, I just got done looking over the list of 800,000 people who died that day and Dale Earnhardt was the only one I recognized. Wait, let me check again, nope just Dale. As unfair as it seems, some peoples lives just seem more important than others. It's all relative. I'm sure you would rather have some stranger die than say your child or mother. The fact of the matter is that Dale Earnhardt name was the only one of those 800,000 that died that day that the majority of this country knew. I didn't worship Dale Earnhardt, he was just my favorite driver.
