Not entirely true... part of the DVD-A Spec calls for the inclusion of a DD 5.1 track for DVD-Video player-compatibility... so you can play these in any DVD drive, but you won't hear the increased resolution unless you have a DVD-Audio player.Originally posted by: Souka

You need both hardware and software. If you get the Audigy2 card (other cards may support DVD-A, but I don't know of any), it comes with the software to play the DVD-A tracks.Originally posted by: lnguyen
how would you play DVD-A on the computer? wouldn't you need software to utilize it as well, or else you'd still just get the 5.1 track.
