Free DVD Case From AOL

Everyone probably already knows about getting these in the mail, but you can actually request them!! I did it, and it came within two weeks. I just requested another one. All you have to do is go to their corporate site, and fill out a short form.

Just select "America Online Startup Disc--Version 6.0" and you're set!!

It was perfect for some dvd's I have that have those flimsy paper cases, and when I bought a used dvd from Blockbuster, it was in a CD case!!

Ok, I've gotten about a dozen of these. How do I get the mailing address sticker off without leaving all that sticky stuff.

EDIT Nealr Use a blow dryer but make sure you dont melt the plastic, if it leaves a sticky film use alcohol and a paper towel or whatever

I have heard that you can use a hair dryer (high heat, low fan), but I have had success with "GooGone" (from Target).

I use Goo-Gone too and it works great! Now I have 10 DVD cases for all my CD-Rs!

Hair dryer works. You can also use masking tape to try and yank off all that gunky leftover stuff. Key to using hair dryer is to make sure the label doesn't break when lifting it. You can also use a razor blade to left the edge if your fingernails can't get under it.

Works everytime, just let it seat for about 5 minutes!!!

I don't even try to get the mailing label off. I rip the plastic off entirely. The cases look a lot better without the clear plastic on them.

Hairspray helps take the goo off too (I grew up in a houseful of women, and have created one of my own). The cheapest stuff seems to work the best.

Why bother ordering them? I get enough at them at home, work, relatives that I have like 10 already. *shrugs* I havent tried the hair dryer or goo-gone stuff yet, but maybe Ill bother some day. Just be patient, they will send you more than enough without you ordering more!

zippo lighter fluid works really well also. takes like 2 seconds.

You must work for AOL, because I would have thought anyone posting on this board would know better.
There's so many free ISP's, that have gotten very reliable, why would you pay $20/month?

Tumbleweeds and Frostgiant... Goo-Gone is just lighter fluid in a smaller can at a higher price. I used to love the stuff, then i started working in the tile biz and found out they use regular old lighter fluid (the kind that costs 99 cents for a big bottle) to remove the tile adhesive. Just wanted to pass this on...hope it helps.

Thank you! I have about 8 of these sitting in a box, waiting for me to figure out how to remove the leftover gunk from the label. Thanks to you guys, I'm cleaning these up and putting them to good use. Now a better place for those DVD in cheapo paper sleeves!!!

I used to work in a print shop operating a cutting machine, and my boss recommended that after cleaning it I hose the whole thing down with WD40 just as a pre-emptive strike against all the ink buildup.
He then told me (joking): "WD40 is so great...nothing sticks to it! When it's my night to do the dishes, I spray it on the dishes before dinner and they just rinse right off!"

WD-40's name stands for Water Displacement 40th attempt, the inventor got it on the 40th try!

My Blade DVD case looked a little worn. I almost left it and would have kept feeling bad for it. I remembered I had these so I replaced the cover and the disk. Now it looks nice and new!
