I went for it. I can also throw away the snail mail SPAM, and I sent my SPAM addy to them. We'll see what happens

Thanks for the deal, even if it doesn't work out.

I hope my dog enjoys the free DVD I just signed him up for. He also enjoys shredding paper so free spam snail mail could be advantageous.

I sent the following message to dotster.com

Comments: I have a couple concerns with a web address, efreepromos.com, that was registered with your services. One is that the telephone number is incomplete. The other is that the address is questionable. I believe it a scheme to harvest email addresses and then sell that info to others without mailing anyone their DVD. Would you verify the information given when the site was registered?

I just got back the reply.

The information in the whois data for the domain in question, is the information entered by the owner of the domain. If you are problems with the way they are doing business, you'll need to bring your request to a law official.

Thank you for your inquiry.

Please let us know if there is anything else that we can do for you.

Customer Support

Guess those running doster.com don't give a s*** if people might be scammed. Probably never looked over ICANN requirements for dot com registration.

I signed up, but halfway through the sign-up process, I decided to just create a new e-mail account. I have earthlink DSL and am allowed 8 POP accounts plus even more webmail accounts. I have only used 3 of my POP accounts so I added another just for this promo. This way, I'll see if the address gets spammed. if so, I know where it came from!

However, Earthlink apparently takes a little while to get the account setup and replicated so that I could access it, as I attempted to send a msg to that account from my main account and it bounced.

BUT...I checked the account again today and they apparently followed up with a remionder msg that included the confirmation link. I clicked it, and we'll see what happens.

As for spam, I'll remove that mail account in a few weeks after I receive the DVD and if I get snail mail spam, well, I live in an apartment and I have seen my mailman just drop tons of stuff into a mail bin instead of putting it into the mailbox. I think he may be actually trash some of the spam since it doesn't fit in the mailboxes! I have my own personal snail mail kill-filter!

I got an email with a "coupon" asking me to confirm my "free DVD". Clicking on the coupon took me to Columbiahouse DVD Club website. I had to agree to buy two more DVDs at regular price during the next year to get my "free" DVD. I politely declined their offer.

That might even happen with the library computers (if they are located at your school) because if you are using the computers all located at school then you may be coming from the same ip address (probably how they are tracking repeats). That's one good thing about dynamic IP addresses I guess.

Young American handles most of Best Buy's rebates. They are located here in Minnesota where the BB Corporate offices are. They also have a Young America branch here in Mankato MN.

The Netflix store is temporarily unavailable because of maintenance work.

This store is available 7 days a week, 24 hours a day. Well, almost ...

Every now and then we have to perform maintenance to the Web store equipment. Right now, we're working hard to give you an even better shopping experience. It is anticipated that the site will be available again at Pacific time.

We apologize for any inconvenience this causes you.

Please visit us again soon.

Anybody got crap like that one?
