free email forwarding service?

Guys/Gals i used to have yahoo/sbcglobal email address until i got a cable modem. They have a feature that i think its just awesome called address guard. They allow you to create a email prefix and any number of suffixes off of there. For example:

Email Prefix: foobar- (Permanent)

and then you can create any number of suffixes (temporary) to create a email address:

foobar-ebay@yahoo.com
foobar-amazon@yahoo.com
foobar-newegg@yahoo.com

ect......

As soon as you start getting spam on one of the mails you just delete the suffix. So for example say you start getting spam at foobar-ebay@yahoo.com. You just delete this address and create a new one foobar-ebay2@yahoo.com. I really would like this feature again but i don't want to spend $20.00 a year just for this. Does anyone know any forwarding service like this where you could create an email address (which forwards to your main email address) and as soon as you get spam then you could delete it? There are many temporary email address services out there but this is not what i want. They generally are not secured and they delete the email address after like 24 hours.

No matter how much we try to fight spam at our inboxes we eventually end up getting spam. You end up having a friend (many of them computer illiterate). They have you in their address book and they get spyware on their computer that steals your address....or they send you forwards (after you asked them not to) and broadcast your address to everyone and their dog. Ive also had problems with ebay. There is no way to prevent a seller from getting your email address and after they do ive been spammed by them.

Any help would be appreciated.

Use gmail, they have free email forwarding and you can consolidate your accounts.

You can create as many Gmail accounts as you please. And in each account, you could establish an email forwarder to your main account, and if you want even force all those emails to be labeled something specific (which act like folders).

I believe I have seen something before that seemed very similar to what you were stating with yahoo, but I might have imagined that, and no clue where I saw it. If I did it was specifically for gmail and did basically the same thing.

I actually do use gmail and i guess if you start getting spam at one of your gmail accounts you could either not check it anymore or stop forwarding it to your main gmail account but i guess i don't like the idea of creating 1 gmail account for everything (ebay/amazon/ect...) but i guess it would work. I also like the ability just to destroy it on demand.

GMail's spam filters are excellent. I have 2 accounts and I haven't gotten spam in either for as long as I can remember. Everything always ends up in the SPAM folder, and if a spam does get through, I just mark as such and the filters update themselves.

I have filters set up to label different types of emails. You could set up filters having all the ebay mails this color, yahoo that color, whatever you want, it's quite powerful.

I agree with you. I created a gmail account early on in gmails history. For some reason after i created in within 15 minutes i had 30 spam emails and i hadn't even emailed anyone or giving anyone the address yet. It was wierd. Anyways i get so many spam emails that it was impossible to search through them and see if any legit emails got put in the spam folder......which happens occasionally. So i had to switch accounts which is a pain in the arsshhhh because how many people have my email address and everything i have setup under this account google reader/calander/ect....

Unfortunately they are deleted after a maximum of 20 emails. So after someplace send you 20 emails then the specific email addy will be deleted . I just want them deleted as soon as i start receiving spam and i will know WHOs fault it is.

i think i found a solution which will be good enough. While not as nice as Address Guard with yahoo this solution is free. Here are the details:
