~FREE~ F-Secure Internet Security 2005

A Canadian ISP called Shaw is offering a rebranded security suited that includes F-Secure Anti Virus, Ad-Aware Pro, firewall, spam control, and parental filters for current or potential customers. Apparently, you also get free lifetime updates. Be aware that the file is large and the suite is bulky. I would suggest not running every utility bundled unless you want all the protection as you would probably notice a lag.

1. First, go here and click on "get it here":
Shaw Secure Signup(no need to be a customer or sign up to be a customer. havent gotten 1 spam massage or charged 1 cent so far.)

2. Fill out a username and a good email address. Shaw then asks for customer information. However, the page says "If you are not a Shaw customer or do not wish to provide this information select the skip button and continue with the download."

3. Check your email for a serial number and links to the software.

If you dont like F-Secure, I have a link to a free download of Mcafee Internet Security 7.0 with at least 1 year of free updates.

3 lisences per name and email address. jsut change emails if, say you want to outfit your whole corporation with it.

vital, all i know is that f-secure is better antivirus than mcafee, but also takes up more resources.

NOD32 is THE best.
F-Secure may be second best. It's easier on resources than most of the competition.

I don't think NOD32 is that great. Panda seems to be better.

Are you sure this is legally available to non-customers? If you read the license agreement, it seems to be for existing customers only. Not to threadcrap, but if you're not legally entitled to use this software, then you might as well be downloading a "free" copy off your favorite filesharing network.

"The Service may only be used by you on PCs located at the billing address you have provided to Shaw and may not be transferred, licensed or resold under any circumstance."

"Notwithstanding the terms of the software license between you and F-Secure®, in the event the service you subscribed to from Shaw expires or is terminated for any reason whatsoever your license to use the F-Secure® software will, without notice or liability to you, automatically terminate."

Why does it give you the option of not entering your customer information if you are just a visitor then?

just a heads-up.....

I installed this in a xp-pro virtual machine on a 1.6ghz celleron -- and it added about 2 1/2 minutes to the start-up.
I haven't decided if I can put up with that, every day.....
