I thought about the fact the it is not a local number but with Long Distance being as cheap as it is plus the fact that most the time I need a fax it is out of state anyways is fine for my needs.

yep efax is free, though they have started faxing you an ad every month, which is a little annoying (but still free).

I used have an email address where you can email them your "fax" and it gets fax to the other side. The down side is, they attach ads to the fax and some receipants would think it's junk fax and throw it away. Also, it's been awhile since I used. give it a try:

well, j2, the company that bought eFax offers a fax number from which you can send for $4.95 a month. But it isn't a local number.

I use to use ureach.com for fax/emails. Had a 1-800 Number, and you could use it to dial outside lines (like a phone card).

Maybe I should clarify ...........

You can have any area code you like as long as its 775.

Useful for some, but not for everyone. I think you can get a local # from Efax for 9.95 a month.

I get my efaxes in .tiff format, which means I can view them with
any viewer of my choosing...no problem.

I also got lucky and when I applied for an efax number, they (randomly)
gave me a local area code...
