The bastards falsely advertised a heatsink as "up to 1.5ghz" when it was actually rated "up to 1.2 ghz" When I emailed them a month or two later, they blatantly refused to do anything. I have heard several other horror stories.

Avoid these idiots like the plague.

TCWO has an excellent Reseller Ratings score. I have ordered from them with no problems. Sorry to hear that STiSev didn't have a pleasant experience, but I think that his feelings are the exception from the rule.

STiSev, TCWO is not TigerDirect, there's a difference between things not going OK 100% of the time and blatant intent to fvck us.

A few months back, they mispriced the 2.66 Pentium 4 processor for under $100 what everyone else (including Newegg) were selling it for. Not only did they honor it, but I know two people that ordered multiple procs, and they honored those as well. A great company in my book.

Well, I don't know where the hell johnyguru was when the customer service rep refused to exchange the HSF.

I paid $15 or $20 extra from a AMD OEM fan (for a 1.4ghz). I told him I was getting 55*C on my 1.4ghz T-bird at IDLE! (I wouldn't even dare overclock it[/b].)

You know what rep says? "That's nothing! I have a box that runs around those temps just fine!"
What a bunch of crock. The point was I spent almost $20 extra on a "UPGRADED HEATSINK +FAN!"

I have no idea. All I know that is was a Volcano 2, rated specifically for up to 1.2ghz. TCWO.com clearly printed it as "Up to 1.5 ghz" on their site.

If you deal with overclocking you need to have at least enough sense to check Official ThermalTake web site before investing in higher end cooling.

I'm really curious to see what Jon thinks about all this. Not that he wasn't a nice guy about it; I'll give him that much. He was very nice about it, but that still doesn't make up for the fact that I paid for an item that was falsely advertised.

Where did you see the 1.2Ghz figure? If it was on the box, it's possible the box was printed when the fastest Athlon was 1.2Ghz so it was only rated for that speed, but once higher speeds came out the HSF was rated for the higher speed CPUs.

edit: Oh I just looked at the other link which shows what each HSF is rated for for the Athlon and Athlon XP. Well it seems they passed on the information that was supplied by the manufacturer, which was incorrect.

That datasheet is incorrect and Thermaltake changed their website immediately after they realized the mistake. I notified TCWO.com of this mistake and they refused to do anything about it. That's NOT good customer service, imho. And given the fact that my T-bird 1.4 processor was running around 60* at heavy load, (and eventually crashing from overheating) didn't really make the situation any better.
