Hot, Though I am still waiting for the deal on French Army Rifles->Never been fired and only dropped once.

I love that one.....ask your self this question....why do the french hate americans? do you know why?

As interesting as it is to see what McDonalds has over here in Europe (like the McPink sandwich in Italy) sometimes eating there is a necessity. I did have some nice sit down dinners in France, but when you are on the go between sights or Museums, you rarely have time for a nice meal. You are forced to grab a meal to go from a sidewalk cafe or fast food place. Thats when I was charged 5 bucks for 6 ounces of coke. Or if you prefer you can get bottle water for $7 a bottle. I will give credit where credit is due though, the Louvre was amazing. Can we move something that wonderful to a better country like Austria, where everyone was polite and helpful?

So France sucks because the cost of life is higher there? I guess then someone living in Montreal for example could say New York sucks (very amusing to get a crappy junk burger at the TGI's Fridays for 16 US$ while at that price I can get a plate at one of the finest restaurants in Montreal). As for people being polite and helpful, I wouldn't generalize if I were you. I lived 8 years in france and while it's true their behavior is more aggressive than what americans are used to, it's just the way they talk. They're not being impolite.

Basically the reason I didn't like France was that it's too frilly and "girly" That and that the people were just plain rude the whole time. The food was good for a short while, but I am more of a meat and potato guy and I couldn't stand all of the smaller portions done up all artsy like. I was damn happy to get half a chicken and a huge plate of potatoes at the Hofbrauhaus in Munich when we left France.

The McPink is some sort of 8 ounces of the most disgusting proccessed pork patty that I have ever seen. Its an unhealty looking pink. They have it on sort of a kaiser roll with lettuce and such.

The costs of living are higher over here, as I am working in Germany right now and I am not too keen on the 16% sales tax. France has only 12% sales tax I believe but I think charging someone $5 for 6 ounces of coke is a bit rediculous no matter where it's offered. I have only seen such blatent ripoffs in Paris though. Even Rome where I was last week wasn't that bad and it's also filled with tourists.

And as far as the French Jokes go, you do have to see the irony in such items as the Arc de Triumph and French Army Museums seeing as how they got stomped on in almost every war.

Yea he led the failed attack into russia that lost almost 400000 men, got crushed at waterloo, banished to elba, and had one of the smallest penis known to man (which I think is still preserved somewhere by the way) BTW his parents were ITALIAN and the island that he was born on was only taken over by France 9 months before he was born, so while technically a French citizen, he wasnt even born in France.

Anyways, I consider this debate pretty pointless, but I'm very disappointed to see how ignorant and racist people are on Anandtech. I sure hope it's not representative of the american population.

Because I have been to a place and I didn't like the service, the food that much, or how expensive items were that somehow makes me a racist? Even though I am part french im a racist? Whatever. I'll give you Napolean but for the most part the French have got their @ss handed to them in wars by the British, by the Germans, by the Viet Congs (but the USA screwed that one up too)

Maybe a reason I dont like the french so much is because their A-bomb testing unleashed Godzilla on New York.

In Germany if you lose your job, your unemployment for ONE FULL YEAR after you lose your job IS EQUAL to the salary you just made.....lets see...sitting on my ass for a whole year making the same as before....or working....tuff call although you do have to pay for "unemployment insurance" and total taxes for an unmarried male run about 50% a year.......theres no such thing as a free lunch I guess........

Hey Cub, kind of funny you mentioned this.. I know a thing or two about vintage guns, and the French WWII rifles (called the MAS) happen to be some of the cheapest surplus rifles around. I see them for about $100 here and there. Now about a hot deal, here is a site that sells them for $43.06!!!! And yes, they are like brand new, because they didn't get to use them! Why are they so cheap? Well first of all, they shoot a caliber that isn't available here in the US, and secondly, they don't have a safety!!!! Now that's really using your military brain isn't it?!?!? Now ask me why they haven't won a war in a couple of hundred years!!!
