This follow up is just the best. Looks like that dumb broad brought so much attention to herself, the police found that she was involved in all kinds of scams.

I could just see her "To do" list

#1 - Spill hot coffee on crotch, sue McDonalds. (never mind, someone beat me to it.)

#2 - Introduce pre-teen son to Michael Jackson, arrange "play date." (Damn it, again?)

#3 - Use finger bought from homeless person to scam Wendy's. (JACKPOT!)

I went there yesterday and the 1/4 lb Double Stack w/ Cheese, which has been on the $1 value menu for as long as I've eaten at Wendy's, is now $1.39. WTF is up with that? A 40% increase on an item that has been $1 for decades?

my wendy's doesn't even have double stacks on the menu anymore and they were never $1 here...

Have to send them a nasty note about that one.

The Double Stack in North Alabama fell off the Value Menu a couple of years ago (I can't believe I'm posting about value menu items).

My first thought when I saw the news was drug deal gone sour somewhere and someone was wacked in the meat processing factory. It was like it'd be hard to think the lady being so dumb to play out a scam that like. This is just sad...

This is the most disgusting thread I've read since I've been here.

If you're reading this because you live in the Bay Area, go outside and enjoy the sky and BMWs driving around. Not to mention the scenery while you're driving around in your BMW.

You should do a little research on that case before labeling it a frivolous lawsuit. Here are some facts about it:

1. The old actually was severely burned by the coffee. The jury saw pictures and doctor testimony related to this.

2. McDonald's had a history of disregarding this issue. Many people had complained before about this. The reason McDonald's kept coffee that hot was so that people were less likely to drink the whole thing while in ther restaurant, and therefore less likely to get refills (saves money).

3. The jury, in the end, openly decided that the woman's case was strong and merited the large penalty against McDonald's. One jury member in particular was very skeptical about this case coming in, but the evidence changed his mind completely.

4. The woman only ended up getting part of that $6 million.

I also remember that the cup was a defective design and McDonald's knew about it, but decided to use up the old inventory before stocking new cups.

Sorry, I didn't realize that her lawyer was a member of this board. How much of the $6 million did you get?

Sorry, didn't mean to sound like a lawyer.

I had also though the case was frivolous. But I did research on it a few weeks ago for class, and was surprised myself to find out what really went on. Another thing about that case is that she initial wanted to settle her claim for $20,000, but McDonald's refused.

Just got back from local Wendy's (Tallahassee, FL) and it seems they are running the free frostys now. (lunch Friday)
FYI- it is the kiddy frosty, the one that is about 3 inches tall. A nice free treat though....

Do you really want to eat a burger that costs $1? That means they put like $.20 worth of ingredients into it...

It's a loss leader, the cheap item that's offered to get people to come into the store, that doesn't make money in and of itself. They hope to make their profit on the fries, drink, frostie, hot apple pie, salad, and whatever else they can tempt you with during the "suggestive salesmanship" phase of the transaction. Guess Dave's management team figured out that the loss in sales would be more than offset by the greater unit cost.

Carl Jr's bumped their $0.99 burger up to $1.49... but still offer it for $0.85 on "famous star fridays". Being the thrifty soul I am, guess which day I visit Carl's? Feed the whole family for 5*0.85 + 1 ex. large fries to share among everybody, with my favorite drink (water) for $0.00. Since we only eat FF burgers about 1-2 times a month, might as well try to schedule it for cheap.
