hahaha 3DMark has resorted to adware!!! It installs the Navexcel toolbar without asking. Atleast they have a uinstall for it.

I got about 4300 on my A64 3200+ CH @10x210=2.1GHz, 1GB PC3200 @210MHz, MSI K8T Neo, 6800GT @400/1100

In Futuremark's results browser, as well as in the tech report article, it looks like people using the new Forceware 66.70 beta drivers are getting 20-30% higher scores !!! So the score you are getting with the official 61.77 driver is not comparable with systems running the new driver. I wonder what are the risks in using the new beta drivers, because I would like to try them and see if my system scores simialr to the results shown in the Tech Report article for 6800 GT/Ultra.

mwahahahahaha..... my score is 3.5 times your score, but I'm not laughing at your system, I'm laughing at 3DMark (a.k.a StupidMark) because I'm sure my frame rate wouldn't even be twice as high as your system on any game or app in existence (except stupid mark).

No point in listing your rigs with your scores, fellahs. The only thing this benchmark does is bench your GPU. I got a 2118 on my 9700 pro with the rig you see below, and a 2115 when I downclocked my CPU by 600mhz and dropped my FSB down to 333mhz. This benchmark is strictly a video card comparison, and should not be used to compare real world system performance in games, since it doesn't bench anything else in the system at all (even though it does do two CPU tests, but those don't seem to factor into the score at all?).

I think it uses the CPU score to adjust the measured fps rate, to come up with the final score which reflects the GPU alone. From your description, it looks like they perfected this process and are able to give a score which depends almost solely on the GPU and drivers. But I'm not sure what's the value of that, and this was the main criticism of the "benchmark" in the past. They just made it even more pure GPU benchmark. Unfortunately for them, real life is more complicated than that. This is just a stupid benchmark, except for the nice demo in the beginning, before it turns into a hidious low res slide show. I propose to use the Nato missile stock pile to nuke futuremark.

I'll verify that...I ran the benchmakrs at 800 and 1024 with the 61.77's and got 3200-4500 with my 6800GT. Installed the 9/16 66.70's from 3dguru and got 4500-5800's. Haven't had any issues with them either...already did some general tests with ut2k4, doom3, and sims 2. Didn't notice any improvements in the games, although I agree that this benchmark merely tests the cards rendering capability, not actual game performance.

Are you sure about this? An Ad-Aware scan shows nothing on my machine.

I also installed forceware 66.70 and increased my score from 4300 to 5125. I ran other benchmarks and I did see a small increase in all of them, for exampe 3dmark01 and 3dmark03 got a 1% increase. In aquamark, I believe I'm getting 62k now which is definetely higher than before, but I don't remember exactly what it used to be - I think around 61000- 61500. So the good thing I got from the stupidmark is the discovery of these new drivers, which definately improve performance.

Like Avaolon mentioned above, this 'benchmark' is becoming less and less relevant as we are comparing hardware. For what I play (E.T., UT2k4) my PC is easily able to handle it and then some. Too many people are willing to rely on a 3dmark score to convince them their rig is optimized. There's usually been a better balance between cpu and gpu in 3dmark, but not so on this version. I wonder what an AMD 2000+Tbred would score with a 6800 GTU and the 66.70 drivers.

I would say t-bred @1.8 GHz + 6800U + 66.70 driver would score 5250.

Since they now make PCMark and 3DMark, it is logical that they would make the former system dependent and the latter graphics card depedent.

I actually think it is amazing that they are able to do this. Not since ShaderMark has there been such a good graphics only benchmark.

It is not possible to make a benchmark the reflects gaming in general now that 3D processing is so shader intensive. Different games use shaders differently, and an arbitrary benchmark will just get ridiculed as being nonrepresentative. Just think of it as ShaderMark with geometry and fillrate factored into it.
