use proxomitron. i use it and altho it messes up some websites i've become used to no ads, banners or popups.

When I search with I.E., I use the shiftkey-left_click combo to open links 95% of the time. This opens a new window with the link (same as right clicking a link and choosing "open in new window").

One of the earlier popup stoppers I tried years ago prevented this from working.

Haven't bothered with one since, but since I use the google toolbar all the time, I may try this feature. Thanks.

I do have a carefully edited hosts file which make popups give me a 404 not found page or a red X. But I still have to close the popup window.

ugh, using proxomitron is risky, seriously. it lets everything devious out that access your internet setting (proxo in this case) because the proxo has firewall rights and the firewall can't distinguish whats going through proxo.

I installed the NON advanced features version and it doesn't seem to be phoning home.

OTOH, Why trust a freebie like this? Has to be more in it for Google than meets the eye.

Installed, only thing it needs is a password manager. I use roboform (www.roboform.com) for that. Couldn't imagine browsing the million sites that require passwords without this freeware (there is a more robust pay version).

When I unistalled googles tool bar/popupsop it also uninstalled the "popup stopper" I already had on the computer.

Works great so far. Like the first version, if you install the "non-advanced" toolbar, there's no 'spyware' function.

I loved roboform autofill and password manager features but they got greedy and the new version insists you send them money for full functionality. I went back to an older version. I did get the new google toolbar a few days ago. If it's spyware they can have my info. Google makes the internet functional for me.

You have to edit the registry. The key is:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Google\NavClient\1.1\Options

Edit the KillPopupCount value and change it to 0, or whatever you like

I've been using it for two days now. The popup blocker works well but it's not as good as Opera's. Wish it had something like Opera's Wand for passwords.

The popup stopper works good, but so does a lot of others. This beta is missing some of the other options that I liked in the offical version (like wide window)

Just click on the little vertical gray bar to the right of the window and drag it to any size you want!

What other options did you find missing?
