I signed up for this through OffTopic.com a few weeks ago and did receive my sample (as well as a lengthy email newsletter but all I had to do was unsubscribe...) I haven't tried the hot sauce yet but they did send it to me. From what I hear it's good.

I also am a lover of hot/spicy foods, and am one of those guys that loves to eat raw jalapenos...not the mild ones that you buy in a can or jar at the grocery store, but REAL fresh jalapenos that are grown, sliced, and put in a mason jar like you'd do with tomatos and beets.

Anyway, there is a mall in Gatlinburg, TN that has a store on one of the upper floors that specializes in hot sauce (well, it was there 3 years ago, not sure about now). I bought several bottles of hot sauce from there, and until you build a tolerance to it, 1 or 2 drops in a POT of chili is all most people can handle. I like a drop or 2 in a bowl of Ramen noodles. I put a drop of "Da Bomb" hot sauce on a cracker and gave it to my friend...he started cussing and ran to the nearest fridge, pulled the gallon of milk out and started chugging it and spewing it in the yard. Too funny! A few weeks later, I sabotaged his pizza with the same stuff--I put 3 or 4 drops under the layer of cheese all down near the first bite--when he was about to munch down I locked myself in my bathroom and lo and behold he came running and beating on the door, LOL. Good times!

However, I am Indian (the Asian kind) and I have a much higher tolerance than anybody else I know (yes I am bragging), so I got used to it. Now it takes 3-4 drops on the same slice to make my mouth tingle and water to start accumulating. Ehh, still amazing stuff. Will destroy Dave's Insanity Sauce. And I've checked out spice racks from all over and found that the only things hotter are additives such as "the Source" and "Blair's 6am special". Additives WILL do physical harm if used by themselves and also cost >$100 per bottle. So I'm saving up for one . I challenge anyone to find a better sauce... If you're interested in a sauce rating scale in order from highest to lowest scoville units, here it is:
Hot Sauce Scale
I guess that this makes this the "hottest" thread on the internet. HA! HA! HA!
Kind of like leaving the brown spot in the booth at the restaurant when getting up kind of hot...

I signed up with a new address, got a newsletter and then some spam from Hormel (no joke--actually, it wasn't for SPAM but for something else--can't remember now)! Very odd -- this appears to be a small company, so why would Hormel be involved?

Anyway, the sample (in a oversized Taco-Bell style hot sauce packet) arrived a few days later along with a letter and a religious tract. I unsubbed from the online newsletter and haven't gotten any more messages at that email address.

Haven't tried the sauce yet -- waiting for something appropriate to go with it.

I got my sample yesterday. They lied! This sauce is weak! I didn't even feel anything. It tasted more like tomato paste. Damn!

It's about 2X the size of a Taco Bell hot-sauce.
Haven't tried it yet, so can't comment on hotness.

I also can't comment on the resulting spam, since I put in a phony email addy -- but they do include a little mini-flyer with some religious stuff about the bible and jesus -- weird for a business to do that, but oh well.

Maybe they are implying what will happen to you if you eat the whole sample at once?

As far as hot sauce goes, I find the ones at Taco Bell rather lacking in potency. They should call them "mild", "milder", and "mildest", IMO. Then again, I'm probably pretty-much like you guys, in terms of spicy/hot tastes.

I had a plate of chicken vindaloo once, at an indian place in the mall, run by real indians (not american-indians), and boy, was that pretty good. Made my eyes water slightly. Oh so good... but it still didn't measure up to that little pepper (fruit?) that I had once. I may never know what that was.

This thread inspired me to dig out my packet from long ago(I think it's even older than six months, but that hasn't stopped me from eating things before!). You're right, it's kind of like salsa. I've eaten hotter things than this sauce! I took a fair chunk out of the packet and ate it. No biggy, I decided to throw the rest into some ramen I made.

I picked up a bottle of the 2003 limited reserve and made the mistake of putting a tiny bit directly on a bite of food before eating it; I'm into spicy food, always have been. But I thought I was going to die from that. They also make a much hotter non-sauce additive which is not meant to be consumed on food (it's an ingredient to make large quantities of spicy stuff)... I've read that it's basically pure cap.

On a side note, never, ever try Dave's Insanity Sauce. That stuff makes this stuff seem like water.
How's that possible when the habenero is the hottest thing there is?

I actually saw a show of foodtv showing how Daves is hotter.. They extract the oils from the pepper that have the heat and only use that. Since the real peppers have fillers, like skin, water, etc, and they don't have that they are hotter than the pepper was to begin with..

They claimed that the oils they use are 100M scoville. Which is hotter than a Habenero or Scotch Bonnet which avg 100k - 300k scoville, and pure capsaucin which is in the 15M scoville range.

Daves claimes to be the only one ever thrown out some annual "hot stuff" contest for being too hot.

Daves is the hottest d@mn thing I have ever tasted.. They also have a Ultimate Insanity, and Insantity limited, which is supposed t be 3x hotter than reg, insanity but its like $24/bottle on their website, IIRC.

A couple drops of dave in your wifes bbq sause will give you a moment of loud noice, but then the rest of the weekend will be quite!! Trust me on this.. She even took the milk out of the babies mouth!

FYI,

Dave's Insanity Sauce is hot, but there are several that are far far hotter. I'm a hot sauce nut - and I'm not talking about that vinegar + salt + cayenne pepper crap called Louisiana Hot Sauce or whatever.

I have a bottle of something called Satan's Blood and another called Da Bomb : Ground Zero that would make Dave's Insanity Sauce seem like milk. I have a bottle of Dave's Ultimate Insanity sauce that I've had for a few months now and I use it in everything. You only use a drop or two. The Satan's Blood and the Da Bomb are so concentrated, they're used in large pots of food - I'd never try them as a condiment.

By the way, Dave's Ultimate Insanity sauce is rated at "only" 153,000 scoville units. Da Bomb : Ground Zero is rated at 234,000 scoville units. Satan's Blood is rated at 800,000 scoville units. If you think that's hot, there are other hot sauces that are twice as hot as Satan's Blood. At that point I think you should stop calling them hot sauces and call them Kavorkians or something because you're definitely trying to kill yourself. LOL!

I got a newsletter from them but then opted out, was like monthly, now I get nothing. I did get the hot sauce in like 3-4 weeks and liked it so much I bought a bunch and use it all the time. Once in a while I get a mialer from them on specials. Worth getting IMHO if you like hot stuff, but it is no Dave's, hot but with flavor.

You know... that interesting. I once ate a sandwidth, called a "Kevorkian" (sp?), at a place called Geoff's Sandwidth shop, in Prov. RI, near the Brown Uni. campus area. Anyways, it had roast beef, and some kind of "dragon mustard" or something. I also asked the guy to put hot peppers (jalepenos) on it. DAMN, that was good. The kid working there couldn't believe that I just ate it like that, although I did order a drink afterwards. I tried ordering the same thing later, and found out that it's not supposed to come with jalepenos, and they wanted to charge me extra. Oh well.

But if you're ever in the area, I highly recommend trying that place out for lunch. (I haven't been in the area in quite a few years, so I don't even know if they're still there, but they probably are.) All of their sandwiches are named after famous people, btw. Also, if the help seems intentionally rude to you, that's on purpose, that's sort of one of their signature trademarks, as I understood it from some of the locals at the time.

Don't bother with it. You get tons more spams then after a couple months or so get a sample hotsauce the size of ketchup you get from burger places. Granted free is good but this deal isn't worth the extra spams you get.

I just ordered a bottle of Satan's Blood Hot Sauce after reading the above post! I can't wait to try this stuff out. I found it on sale at this website for only $16.95. Most places had it for 19.95. And shipping was only $3 parcel post.

edit Was just browsing around this website some more and saw Da Bomb hot sauce mentioned above. They have one version called "Da Bomb: Final Answer" that is rated at 1,500,000 Scoville Units!!!:Q

I put the whole packet into a bowl of Wendy's chili (the small bowl from the 99c menu) while it was "spicy" it was not hot at all even putting the whole packet into that one bowl. I was majorly disappointed, a couple spoons of Pace hot picante woulda done about the same. They must really dilute the habanero sauce because habaneros are pretty hot and I'm not that huge of a fan of "really" hot stuff, I like spicy fine but after a point it's just too hot to truly enjoy, I mean sure I CAN eat it if it's really really darn hot but there's no real enjoyment beyond the testosterone driven desire of the "hey look at what I can endure, I'm such a manly man" show off factor (yes I'm guilty of that as is nearly any man).

Let me know how it goes. Hehe. Da Bomb : Final Answer is among the hottest known. I don't have the guts to use that stuff in anything unless I'm making gallons of it. LOL. There's another one you may want to look into called "Chet's Gone Mad"... that's up around 1.5 million scoville units, too, I believe.
